He has made it clear, publicly in 2022, that he sees his destiny as being the man to restore Russia to it's pre-1917 borders.
This would see him as far West as Warsaw and and advancing North to take in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

I don't quite understand this that we've sold these weapons to Ukraine but if they've used them it's our fault. Once they own them surely they can do what they want with them. They are weapons. That's their very purpose.
It's like saying I'll sell you a record player but you can't play any records on it.
