US election 2024 Page 43

He only won by a 3% margin in his popular vote.

You are just trying to twist facts now to bolster your incorrect logic

The polls were not about the populist vote but who would win, and they were wrong
The bookmakers had it 60% to 40% for a Trump win and they were almost spot on.

Nothing incorrect or twisted from me there.
He DID win by 3%.
Many polls WERE based on the popular vote.
Popular and populist do not mean the same thing.
Am guessing you didn't win any money then?
Imagine how angry you'd be had Trump lost!

I think the confusion is coming from the fact that the 60% figure quoted is about a prediction of a 60% chance of a Trump win, compared to a 40% chance of a Harris win. The 60% - 40% was not a prediction of the final voter perecentage for both candidates. Which won't be that.

In other less tedious news, I'm quite excited about RFK at Health. He's already talked about taking flouride out of water and abolishing whole FDA departments. Poor American children, on top of worrying about getting shot at school, they'll soon have to worry about their teeth falling out, malnutrition and not getting vaccinated.

Quote: Alfred J Kipper @ 7th November 2024, 9:40 AM

Many media outlets not only projected a Harris victory but the usual ones were doing their best to promote one. Your liberal journalistic leaning is part of the reason the media on the whole got it so wrong again, as they did Brexit, they cannot see past their own liberal mostly urbanite left leaning stance and can't believe there are millions of others who don't hold these same views.

The general swathe of left leaning broadcast and internet Media has been shown up again to be an over confident overpaid irrelevance. The traditional press is a bit different many still having traditional right of centre views it seems, possibly because of their background and generally being older than the newer tech media and more mobile less home country based broadcast media. imoo

Such nonsense.
Trump would never have come close to winning without the support of the Fox Network and Elon Musk.
Our own press is overwhelmingly right wing

Nonsense!
Kids hate having jabs, never want to finish their food and will do anything to avoid brushing their teeth.
And they won't even have to go to the dentist because their parent's can't afford the insurance.
Kid heaven!

Then you've somehow missed the massive anti-Trump bias on most internet "news" feeds during the election campaign, constant negativity on him including the worst possible photos of him looking angry next to beaming radiant images of their Kamala, they may as well have put halos on her head.

And as Musk is hated almost as much as Trump is by the left, it's extremely doubtful he influenced them to change their votes and thus had minimal if any real affect on the resounding victory for Trump. A result like that doesn't just happen overnight, it was coming from at least a couple of years worth of dissatisfaction of the Biden regime and the liberal elite and their media cronies didn't see it, as usual, stuck in their own close nit world.

Imagine being a working class person with a family, struggling....

And they think billionaire fraudster Donald J Trump actually gives two shits about them and their problems!

Poor deluded gullable fools....

Tax cuts for millionaires- FUCK ALL for the likes of you

Poor deluded gullable fools

At last you get it.

You, your lefty cohorts, Biden and all, think that anyone that is not like you are Poor deluded gullable fools,

It's stating to bite you in the arse.

Odd how Elon Musk changed his mind about Trump.

In other news, Elon Musk makes $26.5 billion overnight.

And?

But?

Quote: Chris Hallam @ 7th November 2024, 5:18 AM

Wrong! Personality matters enormously. I suspect most American voters, like you, preferred Trump's personality to Harris's. They either chose to turn a blind eye to Trump's flaws, didn't consider them flaws, didn't believe they existed, were unaware of them or thought the non-white, female, left-wing alternative looked worse.

Which is why the Republicans lost the House of Representatives, the Senate, and loads of Governors; because they weren't Trump.

Oh, no, wait.

Boiling it down to a simple narrative that Trump is evil and Americans are idiots may appeal to the lack of knowledge British media shows on US politics (and, frankly, my own sense of humour), but it ignores the reality of the issues that each party is aligning itself with, promising to tackle, and using against the other, not to mention the actual concerns of average American voters. (Which is definitely not the same as the shrieking loons on social media.)

The narrowness of all those Republican victories and gains illustrate there's a hefty divide in their country, narrow but deeply polarising and increasingly toxic. We continue to import it at our peril.

Too late.
And I don't think we imported it.
We did this to ourselves.

What's the scores here now then? 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 3-6.

I'm going to backtrack.
Trump's victory was pretty big wasn't it?
He even won in the popular vote.
I was in denial before. Apologies!
