sorry, don't get it. It reads more like a scene from a sitcom...or was it supposed to be?

Do you think? It wasn't meant to. I can't imagine what sort of sitcom it would be from. Maybe a Scrubs style flashback?
I like it very much, excellent stuff. A pedant might say a couple of the lines at the end are superfluous once the point has been made. But really good as is.
