Yep it really annoys some people that the halcyon days are gone - where you could pop down to the ground and do monkey chants and throw bananas at all the black players and scream abuse at them because of the colour of their skin

All this rooting out racial abuse of human beings who are just doing their job - is becoming so so tiresome...

Well, it 's shit or bust, so might as well get the big boys over with first - Liverpool at Portman Road, lunchtime

Up the Town!

Bad luck.
Your boys did OK.
Held out well for the first hour.
The bits I saw on Twitter, they made a pretty good show of themselves.

First home game of the season at my team after being relegated from the league and I'm not looking forward to it. A completely new team - only 2 still there from last season - and instead of standing next to the railings which we've been able to do for 125 years (Me personally only 60 years) they have new rules and regulations. I'm really not looking forward to it although I bought my season ticket before relegation was confirmed.

Hope you're feeling better about things now!

I was surprised to see Greaves in defence though because that was always the complaint about him back in the 60s - that he was a bit of a goal hanger and didn't track back enough.

Yes, just seen them on MotD and was impressed as I had it in my head it would be 0 - 4 to be honest - Liverpool just showed their class in the 2nd half and out boys looked a bit tired

The pace of the game would have been a bit different.
They'll get used to it.

I think they will, and even at this very early stage I think they will stay up

Oh give it a rest. It means nothing.

You're not black are you?

It means nothing to YOU

I used to stand on the terraces in the 80's and the shit these young black guys got was absolutely f**king disgusting

If it was down to people like yourselves who clearly just don't give a shit , it would have never stopped and would still be going on

You're a typical right winger - it's not affecting YOU so who gives a shit?

Try caring about others for a change

But it doesn't happen to the same extent it did in the 70s.

Bingo!

And why is that?

Because people got organised and set out plans to stamp it out!

I bet when people spoke out in the 70s and 80s - there were many people saying "Oh just give it a rest"

Match of the Day is 60 years old!

Documentary on BBC One on Monday 26 August at 10.30pm, which is on iPlayer.

Next week, The One Show is going behind the scenes to uncover how the iconic show is put together live every Saturday from how the running order is decided to how match edits are made.

And how its presenters are suspended or sacked on a regular basis?

I wonder if it will show Linekar with his wheelbarrow taking his wages home.

I wonder if Jenas was originally scheduled to do this.

I did hear he was being groomed (can't think of a better word) to take over from Lineker. He must be absolutely gutted as he was also on the One Show
