Not true. I fractured my shoulder earlier in the year and had multiple x-rays and was never asked that question once.

It's just one of those daft things.
(It's also the easiest and quickest way to be safe without - in those few cases - having to ask if someone's a man or a woman.)
I occasionally get asked by some shop-person if I'm over 21 (I do NOT look it !)
"We have to ask" is the response.
It's clearly silly for 99% of people.
But for those it's important to, it's important.
The rest of us just have a giggle.
