I read the news today oh boy! Page 2,815

The problem is there hasn't been a right wing mainstream party for voters to elect for more than a generation so there has never been a viable choice. In fact more people voted for Reform + Conservative at the last election than voted Labour.

More people voted for Labour, Lib Dems and the Greens than voted for anyone else.
Most people have been disgusted by how the Far Right and the likes of Farage have attempted to exploit this tragedy.

Everyone knows that and can sort fact from fiction. Knuckle draggers you said - how about normal very concerned citizens?

Well the rioters failed monumentally to sort fact from fiction.
And they bought beer and balaclavas.
And the "concerned citizens" line is being parroted by every right-wing shill on the internet.
Give me a break.
I'll stand by knuckle-draggers, thanks all the same.

When I'm concerned about something I don't go and throw bricks at the police. Nor do the majority of decent people in this country.

That said, it is quite funny watching the people who condemned the Just Stop Oil protesters and the Pro Palestinian marchers (and label them as hard left extremists) twisting themselves in knots to make excuses for this lot, and getting upset at them being labelled as far right.

Also, none of the JSO protesters threw a brick at one of their own team's bollocks.

Thugs have now set fire to a hotel in Rotherham containing asylum seekers.
Laughing & cheering at the thought of the occupants "shitting themselves".

They set fire to a library as well. Take that, books!

Book-burning?
Looks like they have been reading their history books.

Maybe this is all part of an elaborate plan by these shitheads

Make everyone in the world think that England is full of stupid, brainless bastards - then no immigrants will want to come here?

Fiendish

Most people have been disgusted by how the Far Right and the likes of Farage have attempted to exploit this tragedy.

As usual the media is happy to accentuate the situation for its own ends.

Instead of just calling them rioters, hooligans or thugs as they would have done in the past (which might even deter others from joining in), they insist on calling them "far right protestors" at every opportunity, which the rioters no doubt feel gives them some standing and something they need to live up to.

The media has politicised something that needn't have been politicised and encouraged the furtherance of what might otherwise have been a one-off.

On every news feed it's 'Far right'. Some of them will see themselves that way, but many of them won't, just fed up angry patriotic Brits, many of whom would've just voted Labour back in, seeing as they're predominantly from the urban North.

But now after all the images with the England flags it could mean Thornberry's view is taken that anyone waving that flag at a non sporting event could be labelled racist and far right. Starmer has just labelled them racist thugs and they'll be punished.

While one brave police and crime commissioner says 'we should look at the causes and not just the symptoms' and gets pilloried for it, and you wonder how long she'll keep her job.

When a Prime Minister takes sides and publically denigrates one side - it will only worsen.
To be fair, there is no correct way to solve this but alienating most of the population is definitely not the way.
Threatening to arrest and put everybody on remand is laughable - Try talking Starmer, maybe peace will break out.

.

'Most of the population"?
You might have to show us some figures to back that up.

Brexit, despite a genuine right wing murder just before the vote, several elections since being labelled immigration elections, several polls putting immigration at or near the top of lists of most concern to public, it never being out of headlines or political debates about how to get it down.

They wouldn't be doing that if it didn't matter to the majority of this country's people.

Quote: lofthouse @ 4th August 2024, 12:19 PM

People were continually polled during the election about what issues concerned them the most I.e. the economy, the NHS etc etc

Immigration never came out on top, it was alway about 4th or 5th on the list

Most sensible people in this country don't lie awake at night worrying about hordes and hordes of invaders storming the beeches

A lot of the people that do just don't like brown people

P.s. VOTE FOR BREXIT ! VOTE FOR LEAVE! to take back our borders and put an end to mass immigration

That went well

Because of all the objections and obstacles created by the wet liberals.

The Conservatives had a majority.
The record levels of immigration were approved and sanctioned by a Tory government.
We (wet Liberals) couldn't even stop the Rwanda Scheme.
