I read the news today oh boy! Page 2,814

What about the machete gangs and bombers and knife-wielders and child rapists? Where do we put them?
Not Rwanda anymore. Perhaps you need some perspective.

Which is why Labours plan for early release of non-dangerous prisoners nearing end of sentence is a good idea.

Surely a more sensible idea would be to get net migration down from over 700, 000 per year to the more manageable tens of thousands it used to be before Blair opened the floodgates? This is the problem, we can't cope with the influx, the speed of the change, it's creaking every single bit of our infrastructure, and ofcourse causing social anger and anxiety now, especially when news comes out of another murder by an immigrant (or those born to immigrants, in this case).

And now we're going to see our green spaces concreted over just to accommodate them! This flare up was waiting to happen. Simply blaming and jailing the offenders and pretending nothing is wrong will lead to a feeling of resentment and unfairness, cause a crisis of confidence in the govt and could even see them toppled before their first term is up.

If the government doesn't listen, it will get worse.
There is serious unrest building that won't be quelled by the threat of courts being open 24/7.

Starmer should be saying something like 'I will listen to you and give me time to try and sort it out'
Not 'these far-right thugs...

Couldn't agree more with the previous two posts from Stephen and Alf - for far too many years people "in charge" (that's a laugh for a start) have put the shutters up and hope it will go away, but I fear it is only going to get out of control, and Starmy Warmy is not strong enough - he frowns and tries to look serious, but he is kidding no one, well apart from his cohorts like Yvette Cooper who just appears on television and sabre rattles.

Labour have previously suggested a figure of around 200,000
But this cannot be done at the flick of a finger.
We have an ageing population and a decreasing birth rate.
The demographic is hollowed out, with not enough people of working age to pay for the ongoing care of the elderly, who, through no fault of their own are no longer contributing to the public purse.
If you wanted to replace the immigrants within the NHS, for instance, you would need many thousand more British citizens to be trained as nurses and doctors. From a standing start that would take at least 5 years - longer for doctors.
Mote importantly you would need to increase both application and acceptance rates at colleges and universities to train these home-grown nurses & doctors.
Low-wages and poor conditions have scared a lot of people off.
Similarly Care Homes staff would need to be trained and wages significantly increased.
And because care homes are essentially businesses, rates would go up or they would close.
Of course if we had a publicly funded Care System we could pay decent wages.
Or a better funded NHS, education system and transport network, come to that.
But that would mean higher taxes - something the very people who get gross out about 'too many brown faces' are averse to.
But essentially, wherever they come from - be it the EU, Sub-Saharan Africa or Peckham - we need the number of people we currently have in this country to keep it going. And they all need houses
To change that will take time and investment - taxpayers money.

Low-wages and poor conditions have scared a lot of people off.

And the low wages, which I also still suffer, are the result of mass immigration flooding the market with cheap labour. The cost of living increases along with crazily higher rents and mortgage payments because there aren't enough homes left for the average British family because so many of our houses have been stuffed with a dozen or more east europeans who can afford to split the cost 15 ways even on the low wages their influx created.

It was a recipe for disaster from the start, and now we're all suffering, for what, some woolly liberal idea that we should give out what we once had to foreigners. None of us chose this, hence the surge of protests.

The surge of protests are a result of organised, on-line orchestration.
We just had an election & the country - the real people, rather than the activists and disrupters - made its feelings clear at to the Right-wing and their politics.

People were continually polled during the election about what issues concerned them the most I.e. the economy, the NHS etc etc

Immigration never came out on top, it was alway about 4th or 5th on the list

Most sensible people in this country don't lie awake at night worrying about hordes and hordes of invaders storming the beeches

A lot of the people that do just don't like brown people

P.s. VOTE FOR BREXIT ! VOTE FOR LEAVE! to take back our borders and put an end to mass immigration

That went well

Your kidding yourself, this murder was just the spark that's been brewing for years, the protests would've happened even if we had no internet or mobile phones - riots happened in the past and had no problem spreading.

It's the ridiculously soft handling of ILLEGAL immigration of mainly men with vastly different cultural values that we then have to accommodate or be labelled racists - many of whom then commit crime with a high ratio of violent crime. And no one's blamed but the 'far right mob'. It's pretty disturbing what's going on here, and very unfair. đŸ˜  cross face.

I don't think you realise that a lot of these morons don't care about immigration or politics and aren't actually protesting about anything

They literally just LOVE going out on the streets with their mates, having a bloody good ruck

It's just a big laugh to them

Better than staying in watching the telly- lets go and chuck rocks at the police

These are the sort of dick heads that only go to football matches to see who they can twat in the streets and pubs before and after kick off

The problem is there hasn't been a right wing mainstream party for voters to elect for more than a generation so there has never been a viable choice. In fact more people voted for Reform + Conservative at the last election than voted for Labour.

Maybe not as such but they do lie awake worrying about getting a doctor's appointment, finding a school, buying a house, making a journey on crowded roads and inadequate infrastructure in general. From 1996 to 2024, the population grew by some 10 million and is projected to grow by another 6 million by 2036.

You yourself regularly claim the Conservatives aren't a proper right wing party, so they don't count in your equation. It's just Reform, and they certainly didn't poll as much as the centre and centre left parties.

Yes, but they are still the home of many traditional Conservative voters in the vain hope that they may represent their values.

.

Well, without the internet, the LIE circulated by Far-Right agitators & bots that this was committed by a Muslim who illegally entered the UK last year - the thing that sparked the riots - wouldn't have circulated.
So there's that.
