Oh yeah

Tree collected - been going to the same place for years.
Apparently, every year I'm one of the last two customers to come and pick a tree.
The other one is Monty Don.
You'd think he'd grow his own!

I can see why Monty was late to the shop given that he suffers from depression but your tardiness is inexcusable unless you were prudently waiting for the price to drop?
On the prudent front and as for growing your own. I'm waiting on the latest 'Loft Crops' of cannabis to hit the the streets to see if there are any bargains to be had before I stock up for Christmas.

As I have previously stated, I am a dreadful snob.
And if there's one thing I hate more than people who don't sit at a table to eat(😉) it's people who get their trees up too early.
Personally I would put the thing up on the 23rd - but after endless nagging from wife and children, who have clearly been dragged up, I relented and we settled on the 20th.
And I wish the price would drop - thieving swine charges like a wounded bull.

The tree should go up two weekends before Christmas!
Mine goes up way before that, but that is the official correct time.

Like you say, real ones are expensive, so you might as well get your money's worth and enjoy it for longer.

Each to their own I get mine up around the 15th as for prices I went to my local butchers to enquire the price of a turkey crown to feed 10 - 12 and he quoted me £74 my eyebrows went up and he quickly added that it was Free Range, so I asked if it was based in Marbella? The queue chuckled the butcher scowled and I went off to Tesco to get one that has never seen the sky.

Are British turkeys made out of steak?

No but I think they must be feeding them it. Its alright for you Ham Shanks you can just shoot anything that flies or waddles or walks past your homesteads.

I'm sure there are dozens of wild turkeys and deer within 500 feet of my house - and sometimes in my front yard - but it's illegal to shoot them in a residential area. I could probably get away with an air rifle (or suppressed subsonic .22 rounds) against squirrels or coyotes, but neither would make for a festive Christmas meal. I volunteered to work Christmas so that the rest of the team could stay home with their families, so my Christmas meal will be leftover chicken gumbo. :(

Turkey feet and chips for me.

Don't mention killing Squirrels on here or you could get into a lot of trouble as Stephen has befriended one and now he thinks that he's Grizzly Adams.

:)
I have a Grizzly Adams-like beard at the moment. My granddaughter thought I was Santa Claus.

The one out of Violent Night no doubt. I don't know if you've seen that but I thought it was hilarious as its Family Guy type violence rather than gory.
