Dr Who, woke bollocks or not? Page 6

It's been good.
Is it RTD's return or Tennants's?
Or both.
But deffo the spirit of Classic Who.

Both, definitely.
I'm just going to need them to bring David back for a three-parter in between every single doctor change from now on.

Great second episode, on par with Tennant's original episodes. And I'm glad they were able to keep the ending a secret, that was a nice surprise.

Second ep was f**king marvellous. And I love the new Tardis, that's exactly how I've wanted it to look ever since Eccleston.
I'm excited about Ncuti, but I don't want to go through Tennant leaving again. :(

Ncuti's got big shoes to fill after Tennant's return. Still, sometimes the unlikely choices of the role work well and vice-versa. Peter Capaldi should've been perfect as the Doctor with his appearance and mannerisms, but his go in the role wasn't very memorable.

I watched the opening 10 mins or so of the first DT return.
Donna's mum referred to someone as "gorgeous" and then proceeded to ask if she's being sexist for saying that.

FFS.

Russell T Davies - great writer, but one heck of a wet fart.

Funnily enough - I quite liked that.
I thought he was acknowledging that, for the older generation, it can be a bit of a minefield when it comes to what you can and can't say.

He's brilliant.

Yes, it was very true to life and sweet.

Yes the first special did go a little preachy at times
But I don't mind that, if it's putting good messages across for the kids then it doesn't detract that much for me

I've just remembered that there is an actual Doctor WHo thread that doesn't have the words Woke or Bollocks in
I may bump that one back up for next weeks special

Oh yes, please do!

Sorry. This was the first general thread I found. (Obviously didn't look very hard).

Anyway I was intrigued that this was obviously filmed before this year because of the inclusion of Bernard Cribbins. Did they feel that the female Doctor was not quite as interesting as they'd hoped or was it planned to be shown last Christmas?

There is a decent Dr Who radio serial on BBC sounds, featuring John Hurt as the Doc.

What do you mean? She was on it for years wasn't it?

They know when the Doctor is leaving and changing over, and planned the Christmas specials a long time in advance. I'm not sure what you mean either.
I think Bernard died just a few days after he filmed that scene, a year and a half ago.

I find it absolutely hilarious that a certain subset of people have no problem with a show about a centuries old, time travelling, two-hearted alien who can regenerate, yet the same show has a few references to trans and gay people, and those same people absolutely lose their minds. I thought Russell did a great job, the scene with Sylvia worried about saying the right thing was really sweet.

Wasn't she I meant.
