I read the news today oh boy! Page 2,687

"Dominic Cummings was confronted about calling ministers "useless f***pigs" and "c****" in messages as he appeared before the Covid inquiry today."

🤣🤣🤣

I've seen Lee MacDonald a few times recently so he must be living nearby. If I got the chance I'd say hello and tell him what a fan of the show I was during the Just Say No campaign but I'd be careful not to make any jokes that he's probably heard a million times. I'm not 100% sure it's Lee but he looks just like he does now. Not really news but strange how someone can go from being known to millions to waiting in a bus station full of school kids who have probably never even heard of Grange Hill. I think most people my age who watched it would recognise him.

All rather depressing, these Covid enquiry revelations.
Just when we needed leaders we had a clown-car full of idiots.
And when you think of the sheer weight of seriousness & intellect that was petulantly ejected from the party for daring to disagree (and the dross that replaced them), just a few short weeks before the news from China turned grim...
Talk about bad timing.

What a pity that December 2019 election went the way it did. Just think how much better it would have been to have had Jeremy Corbyn (possibly guided by his brother), Diane Abbott & John McDonnell directing operations.

It doesn't bear thinking about.

Did you mean to post that in the Status Report thread? I'm not sure if you seeing the bloke who played Zammo from Grange Hill is the sort of thing that's been in the newspapers! But hey, it makes a nice change from all that politics lark, so it's fine with me!

I used to love Grange Hill too - I'm in my late 40s and would probably recognise Lee MacDonald. Always seems quite a nice fellow when he's been on Pointless Celebrities with Ro-land and stuff. He's a locksmith or something now isn't he?

I bet people wouldn't have been dancing and partying when not supposed to

I bet the health minister wouldn't have been preoccupied with shagging his secretary instead of doing his f**king job

I bet Corbyn wouldn't have said "let the bodies pile high"

I bet people wouldn't have been fighting each other and puking up all over the place

I bet people wouldn't have been getting cautions off the police for breaking their own rules

I bet people wouldn't have been giving out dodgy PPE contracts to their mates

I bet they wouldn't have then lied to parliament when questioned in the house

I bet they wouldn't have handed over BILLIONS of pounds to scammers then just write it off

I bet they wouldn't have spent millions on a shitty test and trace app that didn't f**king work

I bet the chancellor wouldn't have told everyone to "help out" by mixing together in restaurants

Yes we were definitely very lucky we ended up with this bunch of lying, boozing, corrupt, despicable twats

Nothing to do with the election.
That had been and gone.
I was talking about the 21 Tory MPs expelled by Boris for daring to vote against him and a No Deal Brexit.
Among them some of the wisest, longest-serving members of the party - that kind that might have lent a bit of gravitas to the pandemic response.
The country deserved better than that charlatan and his toadies.
But you knew that.

Excellent post.
Whatever one thinks of Corbyn's politics (and I'm not generally a fan), it's inconceivable he would have handled it as callously or as incompetently as Johnson did.

Let's see what the list is like after four years of Starmerism.

My guess at what life will be like -

Back being run by Brussels (even though we haven't officially rejoined the eu)
Net migration at 1million a year
Average price of 1 bed flat in London £5million
Can't call females women
Green belt abolished and 50,000 new council flats built on Stone Henge
Equality finally achieved because everyone is on the minimum wage
London pedestrianised
Inflation at 50%
Bonfire night banned
English now a second language in schools
20mph limit expanded to motorways

Ludicrous post.

Merely betting on something doesn't make it a foregone conclusion. I know that from experience.

Ah let em bleat. It's cathartic for them.

Cummings the liar calling everyone else a liar - comical really.
He was very important you know - but nobody would listen to him.

I long ago came to accept that you knew everything. But didn't realise that you also knew what I was thinking. I shall have to be careful.

And yet you are the ones constructing crazy nightmare scenarios about what Labour rule might be like. We already know the present government's record in government has been absolutely abyssmal.

We already know that Jeremy Corbyn flouted the rules at a dinner party so to bet that he wouldn't have done so is, as I say, ludicrous.

And to suggest that the appointment of Diane Abbott as shadow Home Secretary was not because of her friendship with Corbyn but because she was undoubtedly the best person for the job is similarly preposterous.
