How ironic, you've not answered my original question either Mr Billy Bunter.

? I thought I had:

why send someone to jail if keeping them out will get double (i.e. fines) back into government coffers ? Is that how it works ? My guess is Mr Piggott couldn't pay back - so the value there is to make an example of him ?

,,,criminal proceedings were normally only taken when the taxpayer (or, more precisely, the tax non-payer) continued to hide income even after he/she had been discovered and interviewed. If he/she came clean at that stage, they would usually just enforce payment of the sum owed along with the appropriate interest, fines and penalties. If criminal proceedings were warranted, they would still require payment of the sums due of course.

It is said that, in Lester Piggott's case, he had agreed the arrears, interest, fines and penalties to be paid but that he then paid by cheque drawn on a bank a/c that he hadn't declared.

What have I not answered?

Oh this is just going round in circles

Let's have some good news instead...

Because the NHS the Left never stop putting on a pedestal and praising to the hilt was partly responsible for the murders and even tried to cover it up. It can't possibly enhance the credibility of their constant sanctifiers if it's complicit in something as catastrophic as this. And this was after a series of non murder case baby deaths in the NHS where a lack of resources has been ruled out as a factor.

I think you go out of your way to be ultra literal and not understand what those who have different political views to you have said. I'm sure you'll find a way of not getting this.

I do understand now.
It's a daft point though.
The NHS is indeed a great thing. Lots of people on the Left do indeed argue this and they are right to do so. It also always does worse under Tory governments though. They rarely fund it properly and sometimes seem less than committed to its continued survival.
In truth, I don't think this is a particularly political story. It's a terrible thing but it could have happened under any government.
In short, it's completely weird that you've chosen to interpret this as a story which it is detrimental to the Left. I doubt anyone else in the UK has interpreted it that way particularly as even you admit, Nobody on the Left had anything to do with it!

I think the siege mentality that the NHS has to endure under this current government doesn't help - and leads to over-defensive management.
I also think some of them are of the "We've had enough of experts" mentality, whereby they don't listen to the people on the ground - who were sounding alarm bells.

Whatsapps from today's covid inquiry starting to leak out now

They show a government I'm absolute chaos

Example

"was always told that dom was the secret PM...the real person in charge is carrie"
"we look like a terrible, tragic joke"
"i cannot cope"

To think that during a world health epidemic, we had a childish buffoon running the country (no wonder the bloody idiot caught it)

More galling is that anyone with any sense KNEW before he became PM - that he is a childish buffoon

I don't often agree with what you post but fair dos for admitting it...

😋

A conservative MP on the news saying that Israel forcing over a million civilians to move and cutting off electricity and blockading food and water Is a war crime

If Corbyn said this, the Daily Mail would want him arrested

Technically, it is.

It definitely absolutely is

But some people seem to be able to say so and others aren't

Supporting this policy/war crime would make us complicit too

It's always the innocents that have to suffer isn't it? On both sides

The complete and utter destruction of Hamas would hopefully lead to some chance of peace at least

Which part are you not getting?
Hamas live among normal Palestinians (and sympathisers)
They run to their rat runs when Israel retaliates - so for a permanent solution - shift the people out.
The Hamas cowards will also move out but, their rat tunnels and weapons will be destroyed.

And will the Palestinians be allowed back?

Stephen no one more than I would like to see the perpetrators of the attack on the Israelis brought to justice and see a safe return of the hostages. But this 'Collective' approach is not only starting to look like a war crime, it will also act more as recruiting sergeant for young and old Muslims alike world wide.
Also historically it could end up on a par with Stalingrad as the landscape is almost lunar as such logistically almost impossible to use tanks or artillery as both sides would be too close to each other if it comes to street fighting.
Added to that is the fact that if the Israelis commit their 300,000 reservist army into street fighting in Gaza they would require the Yanks to deter the threat posed by Hezbollah and its allies such as Iran and Syria.
If that happens the America would not only run the risk of getting into a Middle Eastern war. But also if the Israelis are seen to be killing innocent people in Gaza America would be seen as its enabler.
I don't pretend to have a solution but I do know that currently optics wise the Israelis are in danger of losing support if they don't adhere to international law. Wise heads need to prevail and intermediates need enlisting.
Lets be honest if Hamas was victorious the Palestinians lives would be hell ad they are fundamentalist fanatics so its in everyone's interest if Hamas are dealt with as an entity rather than this collective approach as it wont end well in fact it won't end it will spread.

And will the Palestinians be allowed back?

The ones that don't get blown up or starved to death?

Quote: Stephen Goodlad @ 15th October 2023, 1:08 PM

Which part are you not getting?.

Which part are you not getting ?

"Children in Gaza are also being deprived of food and medicine - in violation of the fourth Geneva Convention"

I.e. war crimes

No Jewish children then?
Have you skipped chapter 1?
