I see. That's not how I read it. I understood that the question was whether the polls might be inaccurate for whatever reason. But not whether the pollsters had rigged them because they wanted to make it look as if Labour were going to win. But fair enough, thanks for the explanation. Just wondered where the idea that someone had made such an allegation had come from.
I read the news today oh boy! Page 2,649
Labour have been between 15% to 20% ahead for months and months
Personally I think if a GE was held tomorrow though - Labour would win, but only by about 10-12%
Which considering their catastrophic show under Corbyn is amazing - but it would only result in a fairly small overall majority
Due to our nuts election system
Quote: Lazzard @ 7th September 2023, 7:14 PMI think the implication is that the polls are somehow 'rigged' in favour of Labour - or just plain 'made up'.
But if they were just 'inaccurate' or 'a bit random', would there not be some that said the Cons were in the lead etc etc?
Or at least a bit more of a spread?
So if they are, as has been stated, "not to be trusted" - but, they all point one way - then does that not imply chicanery of some sort?
Chicanery in favour of Labour.
That's my reading of it.
Yes. It was sounding a bit like that.
This bloke who escaped from prison "strapped" under a lorry.
Firstly how did they know this? Did they see him there? Someone must've untied him. Did they see him running away?
Now they says he must've had inside help. How else could he have been "strapped" under the lorry.
Actually how do they know that he actually got out?
Yes, I was wondering that.
Lots of people are rooting for him, after such a daring escape and now evading capture. He probably foiled an MI5 plot or something. Very James Bond.
He looks kind of cute in that pic, which didn't help.
They should really only release photos of prisoners from bad angles.
As to how they know, I'm guessing they found the straps still under the van.

This implies they check the vans after they've returned to the prison rather than before they leave.
Now, I don't know much about prison security, but....

Our prison escapee of the day is more Bond-like than yours:

I reckon he's in the broom cupboard

Wow! They'll have to ban gyms in prison, they're getting too buff.

I'm all for chaining violent* prisoners to the wall and giving them the very minimum of care.
*This guy was in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend, and he'd illegally entered the country from Brazil to escape a murder charge there.
Eww. Hope he fell on his face from the top and died of face death.

He was convicted of murder on August 16th, escaped on the 31st, and has been on the run ever since. Huge manhunt, closed schools, etc.
He's been spotted on surveillance cameras several times, but so far he's managed to elude the police.

Yikes.
