I'm glad you didn't mention Ivanhoe.

I'm glad you didn't mention Ivanhoe.

Wash your mouth out.

Moi, soil my reputation on the BCG!

But now you come to mention it, after all this is a comedy forum...................

I've started looking out for really crap films that are entertaining because they are so bad. I've not seen it yet apart from a few clips on youtube but I want to see The Room by Tommy Wiseau. Just reading the making of it and all the bizarreness is laugh out loud funny. After that The Disaster Artist which is a film about the making of The Room. The Room is considered one of the worst films ever made and The Disaster Artist is critically acclaimed.

OPPENHEIMER is getting good reviews so I'm off to watch it.

There was a piece about it in my local paper about when it is coming to the IMAX theatre in Bradford.
It was concerning the length of the film.
Not the 3 hours it runs for but the actual length of the 70mm film reel.
It is 11 miles long and weighs 600 pounds.

Seeing it next week.
Looks good.

.

He owned Golden Horn, winner of the 2015 Derby & Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Didn't know they'd made a film about him though. Must go and see it.

Sisu. Absolutely epic.

Watched "Yesterday" again as I'd forgotten how it ended, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good idea, well written and the very talented Himesh Patel.

Watched 12 Angry Men yesterday for the first time. In the beginning, I thought I wouldn't be able to watch it till the end because I love dynamic scenes, different locations, and plot twists, but I'm so glad I managed to finish it.
It's a very good and interesting film, even without extensive scenery, special effects or something else

Sisu. Absolutely epic.

I didn't know what you meant there Aaron. I thought it was a new word.

But I have watched the trailer and now it's top of my list to watch next.

Seeing "Meg2" advertised as being released in Aug, I asked my son about it, and he had the original "Meg" on DVD, so watched it this evening.

Not bad - like "Jaws" on speed, as the Meg in title is a Megalodon - the extinct massive 70 foot shark, which some diving company manage to upset 😁 and it comes to the surface to seek revenge.

Having seen it, I now won't bother with the sequel.

I watched Sisu - and all I can say is 'what a film.

A Finnish man has had enough of WW2 and retreats into the wild to pan for gold.
He finds a huge nugget and sets off on horseback to a town to sell it.
But he meets a German retreating convoy - and they want to kill him and steal his gold.......

Noir - Does it have to be shot in b&w? Does it have to be set in L.A.? Ofcourse it's no on both, unless you're a tedious Noir Nerd you find on film review sites.

Any good modernish noirs people here recommend? Or older ones.

Any howlers? I've got one, L.A. Confidential. Threw the kitchen sink at it and missed.

Best Noir ever in your opinions?
Mine - Chinatown. Sordid, seedy, convoluted with a big twist and downbeat ending. (SPOILER ALERT IF NOT SEEN IT)

Sisu.

Sezoo?

Yeah not so keen on 4 hour epics. 90mins is the perfect film length for me although am prepared to stick out 2 hours for a decent noir.

Memento and The Last Seduction are great modernish noir films. And you can't beat the classic The Postman Always Rings Twice.

That's the colour Jack Nicholson version I take it? Yes, that's one I keep meaning to get hold of and watch again as a JN fan. Think I've only seen it once.

Memento, that's the backwards run film? No couldn't get along with that at all myself, hurt my brain trying to work it out. I'm sure it was probably noir, if a more experimental type, but I couldn't stay with it to find out.
