Had an hour or so spare, so watched this BBC4 repeat, and quite enjoyed it, apart from Johnny Vegas snogging and sleeping with (!!) Sian Gibson - lucky, ugly bastard.
Oh, and there was the late, and sorely missed, sweetness herself, Una Stubbs.

Have a look at the follow-up, Death On The Tyne that's quite good as well.

I think if you liked one you'll like them all. The quality of the mystery varies a bit but the style, the comedy and the writing is otherwise constant.

Just forced myself to sit through an episode and a half of Murder They Hope before I could take no more. Utterly abysmal.

Again, it's pretty similar to the specials and I'd be really surprised to find people who like one but not the other. MTH is just paced a bit differently, as it's wrapping up each mystery in a shorter time and also dripping some bits of story about the duo over multiple episodes.

I liked Murder On The Blackpool Express and Death On The Tyne, I thought Dial M For Middlesborough was very boring and Murder They Hope was mostly boring as well.
MOTBE and DOTT i enjoyed, but DMFM and MTH were in my opinon - crap.

I've just watched this now.
Lots of - to me - laugh out loud moments. I've caught up now with the 3 in the series. I'll have to start on 6 part Murder they hope next.
