I read the news today oh boy! Page 2,613

Well, bearing in mind Badiucao (the 'Chinese Banksy') is a dissident political artist speaking out against the repressive Beijing government, I would say he's fairly left-of-centre - so possibly not the best choice.

Since when has a Communist govt been categorised as right wing then???

They are an authoritarian dictatorship.
Left and right meet up if you go all the way round.

Arguing with a lefty is like mud wrestling a pig.
Eventually you realise they both like it.

Yes - but a pig who has the facts on his side.

Naive nonsense that conveniently makes any nasty left wing governments NOT really left wing. 'No infact extreme socialist and communist dictatorships which between them still rule over the majority of the world's people are actually right wing because they've gone that far round the wing.'

Bollocks if I may, the truth is they show the dark side of being a lefty that mild and moderate middle class western lefties like yourselves here don't want to be associated with and try to wrangle into being something else entirely. It also cosily makes any anti government protester a good hearted lefty, whatever the stance of the dictatorship.

So, if being left-of-centre makes you in fact on the slippery slope to communist China, then being right-of centre makes you on the slippery slope to running a Nazi concentration camp??
If you gain a kg you are as good as morbidly obsese.
Lose a kg and you have rampant anorexia.
Just listen to yourself, Alf.
Utter nonsense.

It's funny, isn't it?
All the awful things this government has done over the last 13 years, yet the thing that most appalls me - most sums up the cruelty - is the painting over of some 'cheerful' Mickey Mouse cartoons in an otherwise grim child refugee reception centre.
Because they were "too welcoming".
Let that sink in.
I know we're not supposed to compare the Tories - many of whom are reasonable people - to the Nazis.
And rightly so - it's a ridiculous over-reaction and historically inaccurate.
And I know it's just a lick of paint.
But, really, if that doesn't sound like the kind of thing an SS camp commander would do, I don't know what does.

Lineker was right

Rayner was right

This disgusting bunch of thugs are no better than 'scum'

RAUS RAUS!

The caring left in all their glory.
It never takes long for the 'Nazi label to come out.

You show your colours by all you write here.

Which is exactly why I carefully and very pointedly said:

"I know we're not supposed to compare the Tories - many of whom are reasonable people - to the Nazis. And rightly so - it's a ridiculous over-reaction and historically inaccurate."

But this Ministers actions were appalling and inhumane - and aimed at scared children.
If anyone is showing their true colours it's those who refuse to actively condemn this heartless piece of petty cruelty.
Personally, I would much rather hear your views on the Minister's actions than your usual lazy deflection, which a) is boring & b) is water of a duck's back.

Using children that have got nothing in this world - as pawns in some political game aimed at grabbing votes - WHICH IS WHAT IT IS

It makes you ashamed to be British

Thankfully most people in this country will see this lot for what they are and boot them out in 18 months time

Well my view on the minister's action is firstly, they usually get clearance from PM's office for ordering things that have a high likelihood of bad PR for the govt. Secondly, if you rationalise it factoring in any future outcome on their right to stay here, what you are doing is lessening the trauma for them if they are not granted asylum and are sent back.
They are essentially in stateless limbo, not at home, if you make kids feel at home, then when they find out this officially isn't their home and they have to leave then this is surely a much harder wrench for them.

But my own leftfield guess and it's just a guess, is that this is an act not aimed at the children but at the officers in charge of the centre, telling them that they are being too close to the kids, possibly giving them a lot of false hope in expecting to stay when their own legal advisers suggest they may not be granted leave to stay in GB because they are expected to be found not to be parentless. Yes, this happens, parents sending their children off to a better/safer country expecting them to be taken care of. It is technically exploitation at best, gross negligence or getting rid of unwanted children without prosecution at worst. But they clearly know there are a lot of daft liberals in England whose heart strings are so easily pulled.

Just a minute! Can you suspend hostilities..........(Taking a leaf out of lofthouse's book) I got myself some popcorn, but have run out - so will need to nip down to the foyer.

One former Tory government adviser added: "The country is going to the dogs so we will instead focus on painting over a picture of Mickey Mouse to cheer up kids who have fled with only the clothes on their backs.

"What an absolute f**king disgrace."

Painting over a mural for kids is mean spirited and nasty, end of.

I don't see many kids arriving in boats.
I do see lots of single men arriving - throwing their documents overboard and laughing while they do.
I see kids with beards and acne saying they are 13.

I see queues of tents over a mile long in France waiting in line to come here.

If just one unaccompanied child came over the channel , just ONE

Is it still not an extremely shitty nasty despicable attitude to say " get that cartoon covered over, we want this kid to be as miserable as possible and not feel welcome in the least" ?

Actually going out of your way to do this is pathetic and abhorrent

Anyway, the way this government runs things, some of these children won't be seeing any murals anyway...

"More than two months ago, a minister confirmed that 200 children - many of whom had arrived in the UK on small boats without a parent or guardian - disappeared after being placed in hotels run by contractors employed by the Home Office"
