Billy - you need to share your archival system - if not with the entire forum, then at least with me.
If I could dig up some of my old zingers with such alacrity, I would indeed be a God among men.
But you're right.
Rumour is he was absolutely flummoxed by the result - not expecting for a moment that they'd win.
Had to re-draw his route-map to the top job overnight.
I read the news today oh boy! Page 2,598

That's what I first noticed about the video too! Proving that Tories are socially inadequate prats from an early age.
The police looked into this and said their was no case to answer...
And the Durham police are bent???
Quote: Lazzard @ 18th June 2023, 10:33 AMAll these right-wing commentators saying "Brexit isn't safe without Boris!"
Hogwash...
Wasn't the benefit of Brexit that we could avoid world rules by making up our own ? Get some of the benefits Taiwan and Israel got whilst in exile, i.e. ignoring costly copy write , animal/human rights, green quotas etc... just by avoiding inspection and lying. Do they need Boris's "Woops, I didn't mean that" approach ? Surly doing it quietly and polity , i.e. diplomatically, still works better ?

"This is a market on our doorstep, ready for further exploitation by British firms. The membership fee seems rather small for all that access. Why are we so determined to turn our back on it?"

It's a tactic.
They believe they have a chance of winning next GE if they can convince people that Brexit is in some sort of existential danger from Starmer.
(Which it clearly isn't - more's the pity!)
So "Backing Boris" & "Backing Brexit" are being positioned as one and the same thing.
Personally, I think they're fighting the wrong battle, as the country appears to be hovering between "Well, that was a shit idea" and "God, not Brexit again!".
Shit indeed
"Brexit: Poll suggests just 9% of Britons think decision to leave European Union more of a success than failure"
Haha. Always a poll with the right result.
Quote: Lazzard @ 18th June 2023, 12:13 PMIt's a tactic...
Makes sense, tactics are all the desperate have. Brexit badly needed a strategy which would have needed more than a term to prepare. We need more collaboration between parties to get long term plans executed. That's where China has the edge currently, playing the long game. Maybe proportional representation would do that ? Given how dirty the Tories played with a hung parliament, can't see anyone trusting them. Starmer maybe ?
Pretty sure it will be hung, with Labour forming a government with LibDem and Green support.
And for all the SNP throwing their toys out of the pram over Starmer not supporting IndyRef2, they'd never vote with the Tories, so he'll be able to count on them most of the time.
In terms of LibDems how well they do will depend on where the Tories end up come election time.
If Sunak prevails and beats the knuckle-draggers and ERG crowd ,he could make the party look civilised enough to attract a few LibDems back.
But then he'll lose out to the various Reform/Reclaim/Refurbish crackpots.
I wouldn't be him for a million dollars.
Luckily, he doesn't need a million dollars - quite the opposite - so he can always retire.

It's called "memory".

I trust that, by that remark, you are not implying that I am a supporter of the current Conservative party.

I remember making the comments, but as to where and when and how to find them again...
Hat's off, BB.

I think labour is on course for some sort of majority- obviously anything can happen in the next 18 months though
But Labour is even back on track in Scotland, which could be crucial....
Scottish Westminster Voting Intention:
LAB: 34% (+3)
SNP: 34% (-5)
CON: 18% (-1)
LDM: 7% (+2)

Yes, if there's one thing we've learned from the last few years, it is how trustworthy the police are.
