Quote: Aaron @ 18th November 2022, 4:02 PMAll in all the sitcom genre is in a pretty terrible place right now. The axing of Kate & Koji is one of the final nails in the coffin of populist ones even further. Many column inches have been written on the 'death of sitcom' over the years, but it does now appear to be genuinely on the brink of coming true.
Or was the thing dead anyway? This was like a zombie sitcom with no one in it with any spark or energy of the old sitcoms I keep harking on about.
Mrs Brown's Boys with its contract written in blood now threatens to kill the genre off completely, so many people hate it. God knows how long that contrivance NGO will go on for, if it's down to Mack's ego, it'll be forever.

Studio sitcoms: Not Going Out, Mrs. Brown's Boys.
Good chance of Upstart Crow returning in some form, but nothing confirmed as yet.
Can't see it myself unless you know something we don't. Elton does whatever he thinks best for his ego and his wallet and he likes all the luvviness of the theatre where he feels more appreciated. I reckon he thinks that Upstart Crow didn't get the adulation it deserved and he's off. He's never forgiven the kicking he got for The Wright Way, so he doesn't give a f**k about TV now, and can afford not to.
