Again, surprised there is no thread for this. So.............here's your starter for ten
Been persuaded to invest (saving the planet?) in a Air Fryer.
Who has one. Can they recommend it etc. etc.
Any help would be most welcome

I'll answer ya Herc. We got one a year or so back, a Ninja something. Like any new gadget, you use it to death when new. It's now at the back of a cupboard next to the 'bread maker etc.
You'll ruin lots of food until you get it right. ie chicken nice and crispy - pink in the middle. Chips, nice and healthy but shite. (and to get anything like good chips, you have to parboil em first)
Frozen food from the freezer was good and that was mainly what we used it for but, of course, we already have an oven for that.
After it had sat on the worktop for 6 months without being used it was relegated to the 'good ideas at the time cupboard.
Thank you Stephen, and you surprise me as I've had people going on about how good they are and save power, cook to perfection (anything) etc. etc.
What set me off thinking about it again, was the guy on Saturday Morning Kitchen Live had one installed and raved about it.
My air fryer is great. It works well for some foods (fish and chips etc) and not so well for others. Slow cookers are good too, especially for meats. Both are more economical than the oven.
Yes, had a slow cooker for many years, and they are the best (apart from an Aga) for cooking meat - now you have me thinking again after you saying you seem to be happy with your Air-fryer.
Anyone else have experience of these?
I wasn't advising against buying one Herc - just my experience.
In my opinion, you'd be better off buying one of these. A two-in-one job if you like. The food will then be fully cooked inside.

Now you're talking.
We've got an old 1950' coal-fired job (in-situ when we bought the place)
It's a full-time hobby keeping it running at a steady temperature - but you can't beat it.

Yes, and in the 70s, we had an oil-fired Rayburn (poor man's Aga?), which we ran day and night (no choice, as it was meant to be run like that), at which our two cats became rigid in a swathe of comatose delight.
It is no good explaining to peeps how tender and tasty (especially lamb) is, as words cannot describe how succulent and melt in the mouth meat is cooked this way, and it is virtually impossible to burn anything.

Thank you Stephen. Maybe, but with "your experience" in the cupboard with the bread maker 😁, made me think you weren't exactly praising it.
And thanks for the vids! Enjoyed the Craig Charles one (and funny), which looks impressive, but at £200 I'd expect him to come round and do the cooking too, and I see the model above that with more features is another £70!
Oh, and why the short tape wiping vid? 📺
My general rule of thumb is that, if I've managed 69 years without something, I can also manage the few years that remain.

Maybe - so does that mean you don't have a microwave?
I do have a microwave - although the first one I had I inherited. But I hadn't been without one for 69 years when I had it - 0nly 40 years. So I still had the potential of half a life in which to make use of it. Now I don't.
Mind you, I only use it for hot drinks, jacket potatoes & porridge.
Yes, use mine for porridge every day and is the best for scrambled eggs, BUT you have to keep an eye on it.
And when you speak of hot drinks - I hope you don't mean like I saw a friend of mine once, make a cup of tea by putting cold tap water and tea bag in the microwave.............Jeez - no way José .

Because I'm dumb.
I did a copy n paste of another youtube vid so I could remember how to do it on here - then forgot to remove it. (which I have now)

At least you have mastered it - I have had to give up with Chappers, sadly.
