Based on the Nick Hornby novel Funny Girl (presumably they couldn't use the title because of the Barbra Streisand film) Funny Woman is about to start on one of the streaming services (that I haven't got). A shame really because I enjoyed the book but I'm sure it will be good.

Sky Max. Also available on NOW TV.
Rupert Everett looks a hoot in this.
I watched the first 10 minutes of the first episode - just to get the feel of it to maybe watch later.
I laughed a good few times at the dry humour.
'the feel of it' was great. It's definitely on my list.
Agree with the feel and look - they've done some brilliant work mixing archive and new footage - some of the best I've seen.
Plenty of laughs, found it enjoyable, if a little underwritten.
It's such joyous scenario I think they've maybe neglected to give it much depth.
Watched three and will undoubtedly finish the series.
And. as predicted, Rupert Everett chews the scenery with gusto.
I love Morwenna Banks. Grown up a bit!
Also a couple of points about the script!
"Winning the lottery!" Wha????
"Back in the day" No, no, no!

Quite!
I stopped counting the anachronisms after a while!
I do think it develops nicely - my earlier comments about it lacking depth were perhaps a little hasty.
Quite a meaty story developing now.
Well, I watched the first episode and it definitely took a direction I didn't expect.
Loved it though.
Well as I say I enjoyed the book and it's very close to that.
I just read that Gemma's Mum is Wreckless Eric's cousin.

I find that I'm beginning to understand fewer and fewer posts on these forums 😕
Doon is looking very severe.
Just finished watching this. I think that anyone who likes 1960s comedy would appreciate it.
There's loads more in the book so I hope there are further series.
Great choice of music; Interstellar Overdrive by Pink Floyd, Somebody to love - Jefferson Airplane, Pushing too hard - the Seeds and lots of Kinks, Spencer Davis, Jackie De Shannon etc.
And of course Morwenna (who apparently wrote the script) was wonderful.
I see that Series 2 is starting this week on Sky Max. Hoping I can access it somehow on Now TV.
Am I the only one watching this?
Great appearances fromJosie Lawrence and Doon Mackichan. And I love the 60s feel; the music, the costumes.
My other favourite Belinda Laing is unrecognisable in Sister Boniface.
