Please can we have a Peter Sellers quiz, I am a young person and love Sellers, there are many young people that love Sellers.

Just waiting on Mark now - I cannot do one without his OK, but thank you for your post, as I can offer this up to him after him saying it would be only of interest and knowledge of, to my generation of old farts

Your very welcome sir, a Sellers quiz would be brillant and there so many question choices as he had such a diverse career from the Goons, The Ladykillers, the Boulting Brothers films, The Pink Panther and Being There; perhaps the best career of any comedy actor in all mediums from radio to film and everything else inbetween.

Thank you, but you'd have to be a real nut, which I am to know anything about The Goon Show, and which I have been listening to since it was first broadcast, sitting on my dad's knee, and listening too, to The Lad himself in HHH.

Happy Days.

It doesn't help on this forum, when one of the powers that be (who shouted out Aaron?!?) cannot stand the show, describing it as (if my memory serves me correctly) a load of babbling screaming unintelligible voices.

Hi Aaron! 😁

Quite pleased with my result of 9/10 and 2/5 as I'm unfamiliar with some of the shows but guessed/deduced correctly in a few cases.

I got 1-8, 10-11, and 14 correct.

Okay, all you clever people who got number 10 correct: can anybody tell me what "who curated the line-up" means?

I've never heard of "curate" as a verb. I've only ever heard it in the Derek Nimmo sense. And I've only ever heard "curator" (from which any verb "to curate" would presumably be derived) in the museum sense.

# 10 I didn't even understand the question!

That's a "no" then is it?

Sorry, late to the party, but it is in fairly common usage - certainly in the arts.

To be in charge of selecting and caring for objects to be shown in a museum or to form part of a collection of art, an exhibition, etc.:
She curated a recent exhibition of Indian artwork.

To be in charge of selecting films, performers, events, etc. to be included in a festival:
a Messiaen festival curated by pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard

To select things such as documents, music, products, or internet content to be included as part of a list or collection, or on a website:
a curated library of short movies available online

6 and 2

I got it although it is a bit of a posy thing to say. You should guess it from that.

Thanks.

I would have understood the intended meaning if the subject had been items or artefacts as in your first example. As I said - derived from curator as in the museum sense. But curated a line-up for a comedy programme?

Anyway, I'm not looking to be awkward about it. I didn't understand the question. Simple as that. Now, thanks to your explanation, I vaguely understand what it was asking (albeit clumsily). I still wouldn't have known the answer!

I got it correct, purely as an educated guess in picking the most senior of the choices, as far as comedy goes, and probably age too.

It is somewhat of a wanky phrase, in my opinion.
Increasingly applied to things that don't deserve such a high-falutin term.
I have seen "a carefully curated offering of cheeses" before now.

Eeew, swipe me vicar.

A Red Dwarf quiz! Enjoyed that. I was confident I'd do well, but there were some fiendishly tricky ones, so only got 5/10 and 3/5:
1,2,4,5,7 and 12,13,14.

Is that the current one, as I can't find it!!

A Red Dwarf quiz but still no Peter Sellers quiz, that's shocking!

I scored 3/10 today, every answer was a guess, I've only ever watched about four episodes of Red Dwarf some years ago, and that's all in terms of my viewing of Red Dwarf.

Correct answers Q3, Q7, Q9.
