Thanks. The problem is, of course, I've now played it (and the triple captain) while others are biding their time.

Correct 😁

I was sorely tempted, and would have played TC on Haaland, if MC had been playing against weaker teams

Bad luck Billy. Nearly made the ton. Very good score though, just a shame Kane didn't quite make it for you..........................and, of course, the TC - sorry, shouldn't have mentioned that.

A bird in the hand and all that...

Due to the double game week, Cancelo and Pep falling out and Salah losing the form which made Godot fall in love with him, I've finally coughed up four points for an additional transfer. Putting all my eggs in the Man Utd basket this week, so hopefully ETH's love of not rotating the squad too much will continue. Otherwise, I'll be kicking the dog (and I don't even own a dog)

So, with one exception, we have collectively decided to strip Haaland of the captaincy this gameweek. Time will tell if that is foolhardy.

Yes, and after 9 points from 4 games, I can't support Salah anymore, though he'll probably prove me wrong this weekend.

Given the armband to Rashford, and brought in Fernandes and Shaw for the DGW, along with Kane for penalty of 4 points - surely I'll be in credit!

You'll need to factor in the minus point(s) from the inevitable Shaw booking of course.

I thought about giving Rashford the armband this GW, but Haaland's got a double GW next week and he's likely to hit a hat trick in at least one of those weeks so I'm holding on for that.

Is it inevitable? Are you shaw?

Yeah, that's next week. Why give it to Haaland now, when an on form Rashford is in a DGW now. I don't see your problem, but we'll see......................

EDIT:- ALSO, I forgot to mention - both Man U games are at home against mid table teams, whereas Man C are away to Spurs. To me that's a no brainer.

You little liar!

You little liar!

About an hour ago, I realised I'd completely ballsed up my comment. I meant to say "I'm not triple captaining Rashford this week, I'm saving that chip for next week with Haaland"

Ahh..........I did consider the TC, but it was fleeting.

Hooray it's time for

Manager of the Month: January

Manager of the month for January was won by Wilson Kepa and Pepé's Billy Bunter. Congratulations to him. Bunter was magnanimous in victory putting it down to good fortune rather than "swotting up on player's form", although using two of his chips may have helped a bit.

He was presented with the trophy by (Mrs.) Pearl Nicholas from the GreyFriars' tuck shop, who said; "Billy often spends his wad in my tuck shop. As soon as I get my bon-bons out he's got his hands on them and I know he's going to fill my purse. I had no idea he was good at fantasy football. I've told the headmaster who's reported him to the gambling commission."

Runner up John Pass of Shotgun Blues was characteristically unavailable for comment, but long time bridesmaid Alf Kipper stepped in with some cautious praise, saying: "I really thought my Fantasy Scout membership would have made the difference this month, but at least Steve didn't win."

you and Godot leap-frogging each other, and you know he loves to have a good gripe 😅

I dunno, having a moan's not what it was...

Quote: Alfred J Kipper @ 23rd January 2023, 6:53 AM

Is Godot too far out this time for his usual mid season run of form to get him within touching distance?

No.

I think there's a good chance he'll sit out the Villa game, but on paper it's a good shout.

Thank you. Although I did use two chips, I'm not sure that the triple captain helped a great deal.

In my day of course it was Mrs Mimble that ran the tuck shop, famed for her juicy buns rather than for her bon-bons. Nevertheless it was good to come across her replacement.

It was a shame that the runner-up couldn't be at the award ceremony but he did at least send his fridge to represent him, which selfless gesture led to floods of tears all round.

Incidentally, if the Spanish media outlet Nacional is to be believed (which it probably isn't), all is not well between Haaland and his team-mates and manager so he may soon be sitting out more than just the Aston Villa game:
