What are you watching on TV? Page 2,248

I watched The Royal variety show - mainly because it was on anyway by order of the management.
There were some stunning acts. The Cirque du Soleil did a breathtaking chair balancing routine.
Some great singing from all genres and fair comedians.
I suspect the comedians had to tone it down a bit as Eddie and Sophie were watching from above.
The only one that floundered a bit was Lee Mack - the host. He wasn't able to use his quick wit, just sketches that were at best 'sketchy.

Just finished up Season 5 of A Handmaid's Tale - one of the best yet I think.

2 more to watch I think.

Rick and Morty

Mitchell and Webb have cameos in this episode surprisingly

Silent Witness

I watched most of it on fast forward. Agreed that Cirque du Soleil were excellent and that Lee Mack was hamstrung somewhat. I thought the comedian who won BGT was just not funny.

Some mothers do Ave em - Wendy house

Richard Wilson corpsing still kills me every time I see it

All three of them only just hold it together...............

Well into the second series of Slow Horses (Apple TV).
It's really rather good and Oldman is magnificent.
Sharp writing and engaging characters - what's not to like?

Happy Valley.
A tremendous little drama with the fabulous Sarah Lancashire.

Plus, all the locations are around where I live.

The Warship: Tour Of Duty BBC 2

All about the Queen Elizabeth II £3.5 billion flagship aircraft carrier on its first tour of duty to the China Seas.

Fascinating, and always has been for me, since all previous series about big RN ships, going back to the 1970s with "Sailor", about the Ark Royal, which had Rod Stewart's "Sailing" as its theme tune.

1600 crew on this one, and how they are all accommodated, with mind boggling tonnage of everything they need to take with them

Being buzzed by the Russians in the Med. etc. Just love the whole shebang.

Having to pay extra for Apple TV.

Yeah - I had it free for a bit (a year?) - having to stump up now.
There's some good stuff, so I'm OK with it.

Was that an initial offer?

Currently watching Winterwatch 1963 on BBC4. Fascinating. I do remember it but I don't think we were too inconvenienced.

Interesting to see Cliff Mitchelmore who I always thought seemed really old. Of course he was to me but I think the combover didn't help. He would only have been in his forties.

And Ridley Scott got a credit as Designer.
