Kit Kat - not the bar obviously but the original wrapper!

Slip the paper sleeve off and slit down the inner foil with your thumbnail to break off a single finger - so sensual! :$

Also before being bought out by the evil Swiss they had 'Rowntree' written on each finger: I used to enjoy biting off one letter at a time.

But if we are talking packaging crimes, nothing compares to the abomination that is the Sherbet Fountain.

Anyone remember this?

I don't really miss it though - it was a filling-remover.

Even the advertising riffed on the fact that it took a long time to eat because it was basically a piece of polyvinl acetate dipped in sugar.

Why they stopped making Spangles is a mystery to me - they were the sweets of my childhood and were still being made into the 80s I believe.

So many varieties too!

Here's just a few:-

The square sweet with a dimple each side. :)

My dad loved spangles and always had a packet on him when I was a kid. Thanks for mentioning them Hercules. Or is it 'Aircule'.

Spangles were rubbish, I'm glad they became extinct
I wouldn't mind a Texan bar though.
And they should never have got rid of the cardboard bit from the Bounty Bar packaging

Meh, they're just sweets.

Heathen. :P And you can include Steve in that.

Laughing out loud

Yes, the latter - as per Poirot. :)

Well remembered! :D

I mean even if they were rubbish, how much money have you wasted buying them, Hercules?

"were/weren't" ?

Dunno.....long time ago. Teary

And I wouldn't call it a waste if it was something you enjoyed - there must be things you spent money on that were purely a comfort? :)

lofthouse is rubbish at this game.

No

Actually

No, cos

No these are things that I miss from when I was a kid

I know technically speaking I COULD go out and buy them now if I wanted

That's not the point

So...

Poo off Angry

If I can expand it to include "Eats"..........

This is one I miss:-

Seems to be some debate as to who made them Findus/Ross/Birds Eye, but I do remember this jingle that went with the ad.

Here's real country eating,
Here's a meal to make 'em smile.
Savoury Birds Eye Rissoles,
They're made country style.

And, what the ingredients were. Traditionally rissoles were made out of left-over Sunday meat, so could be anything; but I am sure the Birds Eye ones were spicy minced lamb covered in bread crumbs and looked like fish cakes.

With pan fried thinly sliced potatoes (Sautéed?) and baked beans.

Food of the Gods. Salivating at the thought of them now. :)

Dept. of Old Thread revival here again, and from 1969..............

And I bet George did say that........

I still miss Spira. Just like I did on page 1. (8 years ago!)

? Aww, Bless

I miss the way things USED to taste

Like crumpets

And Pringles

Used to be heavenly- now they've taken all the fat and additives out - they taste of NOTHING

Healthy bland tasteless waste of time

Have I mentioned Bar Six or Toastie Grills? Not together obviously.
