I shouldn't bother - certainly not till it's free on Sky or something.
Weedy and weak.
Not sure why Coogan was in it.
The usual lacklustre fare from Stephen Frears who seems to have forgotten how to direct.

I shouldn't bother .

That's £3.50 down the drain then ?

I thought so - but hopefully you'll find something to like about it.
Certainly glad I didn't make the ruinous trip to the cinema for it.
I'm reserving that outing for tonight ? Hope I'm not disappointed.

I caught this film the other night, gave it a glance and was hooked.

The Guard. With brendan Gleeson.

It was made in 2011 but I had never heard of it.

Blurb:

Storyline
Sergeant Gerry Boyle is a small-town Irish cop with a confrontational personality, a subversive sense of humor, a dying mother, a fondness for prostitutes, and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the international cocaine-smuggling ring that has brought straight-laced FBI agent Wendell Everett to his door.

Perhaps it shouldn't be in this topic as it is hilarious in parts - but black and situation humour.

My brother-in-law was a member of the Richard III Society back in the 1970s and had articles published on the subject so thought I should keep up the family interest.

Oh, well you might well enjoy it.
Although, I would have liked them to play an even bigger part, as they seemed an interesting bunch.

He's 81, you'd think he'd have retired by now.

PHILOMENAN?

I quite enjoyed it actually. And Coogan co-wrote it which probably explains why he was in it.

The Banshees of Inersherin was very good btw
Worth a trip to the flicks.

Wrong thread too, as it's supposed to be a comedy!

Be fair - Lazz is so thrilled with his new thread you let him have (management approved), he uses every opportunity to post to it. ?

Bless.

Still no comment on why it says PHILOMENAN. I know the film Philomena but why the extra N?

Really?
Blimey.
'Feel-good', I'll grant you, but comedy ??

How the heck can The Lost King be a comedy? It's based on a real life event - and not a particularly amusing one.

Yes, saw a trailer for that before The Lost King yesterday. It looked quite interesting. Another trailer they showed, which looked promising, was for Living with Bill Nighy.

Looks like I'll have to try to fit in another couple of visits to the cinema (that's another £7 I'll have to find) before the World Cup starts and consumes most of my waking moments for four weeks. Closely followed by Christmas and the New Year...
