Wanna write a sitcom with Leevil? Page 2

Well I'm just being honest. I'm a lazy shit, who does enjoy writing, I'm just not very good at getting my head down and cracking on (take that sentence out of context).

I understand and appreciate what you lot are saying but I'm not as serious or don't have the drive some of you do.

I'm not looking for someone to do the work for me. I need help with building the foundations, maybe it's something we could learn together?

I did start this thread at 2am and wasn't fully with it, so I'll try and put together a better, more thought out idea of what I'm looking to achieve.

I watched most of that when it was on TV, what's the significance?

May give it a go Lee.

How about though just taking a random subject for a setting and then take it from there.

Like maybe a farm.

That's probably a good idea, but it's not what I'm looking for at the moment, it sounds to group projecty, something I want to avoid and those things require responsibility and organisation, something I don't have and looking back at the past sitcom project clearly displays this, it's only thanks to Gavin for taking the reigns it got off the ground.

sootyj, go on iPlayer and watch Mark Lawson's interview with Ray Galton and Alan Simpson.

Agree. Excellent interview. Comforting to know that probably the greatest (and incredibly prolific) sitcom writers ever struggled to write.

Significance is that they said really REALLY hate writing. They find it really hard to come up with ideas, and can barely string something together as a team most of the time, let alone write individually, as you seem to suggest is a requisite for being in a writing team.

What I meant was, before you write in a team, you have to have the skills to bring. If you want to join a band, you need at least a few chords or scales. One of the hardest things I found with writing my first pilots, was stretching the material.

I had one pilot I loved at 10 pages, and and hated at 11. Cos it didn't have that next 20 pages in it.

Could have added in some tits? Always a good filler for the pub crowd.

Ant & Dec?

Rolf Harris. Bingo, you're onto a winner.

My earlier remark was only a light jab, but I guess it could have come across harsh. Writing with others is a good way to get you started. You have to be prepared for the stabilisers to come off at some point though.

Don't worry, I never took any offence to your post, it's all good. If anything I appreciate the reply.

I do understand what you're saying, but I've been writing since I was about 14 I think? I've had many writing partnerships in that time and I've tried many different techniques.

This time, I'm just looking for someone with ideas, someone I can bounce my own ideas off. I'll try and have a good ole think what I'm looking for and put up more details later.
