I wonder if Mrs. Smith still lives here? ?

Image

Is that really a picture of Mrs Smith's house? You might be right, of course, but as a native American chief might say, 'I have my reservations' and as Jeremy Clarkson might say to a contestant, 'This is what I think . . . '

The advert says the woman lives at 27 Plantation Rd but the photo you've supplied as an illustration of that house is (I believe) number 23.
The pic below from Google maps shows four houses on Plantation Road - numbers 21, 23, 25 and 27.
Numbers 21 and 25 are clearly numbered and the house you've identified as 27 is between those two houses, making it number 23.
Using the clearly numbered houses as reference points, number 27 must therefore be the one on the extreme right of that terrace (as we look at it).
Yes?

Don't show that to Monkhouse.

Outrageous by today's standards but sold lots of office supplies in decades gone by.

1981................., and er, I don't think Ford would get away with this now!!!

Very funny - but to be honest, I'm not convinced it's original.
I began working in advertising 1981, and there's no way that would have been run - 60's maybe..?

Yes, I did wonder that, but the car is definitely a 1981 model, so maybe that confirms it is a spoof.

Yeah - I can't find that end-line (which would have been part of a campaign - they would never have a one-off) anywhere else.
There were plenty of sexist car ads in the early eighties but usually of the "bird draped over the bonnet" sort of thing.
I had a Capri MkII - ice blue.
Went like shit off a shovel.
