I've recorded a podcast about aural sex. Prick Up Your Ears.

By coincidence that was also the title of the film (and indeed play) about the life of Joe Orton.

I saw that joke in my first wank mag. Thank you for the memories.

Hello Michael, that joke was written a very long time ago by a native American comedian called Standing Joker. He'd heard about mermaids from a British immigrant called Bicarbonate Bill (one of the early settlers) but SJ never got a laugh with it cos none of his tribe had ever heard of the sea, never mind a mermaid.
I'm sure you know how that feels. I certainly do

Here's another postcard joke:

Michael was, many years ago, apparently.

I though the Indian one was quite good.Certainly didn't warrant an unpleasant remark. There's be worse with no comment.

There's a not particularly well-hidden agenda at play
Best to ignore and rise above it.

Ignore it if you must, but there certainly is, and he will be outed eventually

Fascinating.

Glad you think so ?

Not as funny as it once was (for obvious reasons) but it's worth including as a reminder that a great many 'saucy' seaside postcards rely for their humour upon the depiction or the suggestion of activities that in times to come would get people locked up.

I love that the postmark has come through from the back and if you reverse it you can see the date it was posted
