I read the news today oh boy! Page 2,478

I don't know if the mini budget is good or bad, time will tell.
But I'm very unlikely to listen to armchair lefty labour would be politicians posts
We had Boris is a twat on here for years from you all and now Truss takes the epithet.
When somebody says everything is bad all the time it becomes moot.

They were anyway, roughly two times 365 days, till the next election, the blatant catalyst for a very radical once in a generation or two political budget and signal of her cabinet's style of policies to come. And designed to be hard for the expected new Labour govt. to reverse and revoke quickly. It is still a great gamble with people's livelihoods in reality, it's like a Japanese General's last ditch orders, fully aware it could end in suicide.

The next election has to be held by January 2025 so probably has to be called by December 2024.
Already slightly doubtful Truss will last until then. Not because of the media (the press is very pro-Tory anyway, even now amazingly) but because of THAT budget. A difficult situation made into a crisis at a stroke. Not helped by her disastrous communication skills during those local radio interviews afterwards.

They should have just let her concentrate on the pork and cheese markets

She was awesome at that

Johnson was a twat.
Truss's premiership has got off to a bad start.
EVERYONE is saying that. Even quite a lot of Tories.
Any mini budget which triggers an immediate run on the pound may be safely judged a relative failure.

Case proven m'lud.

I don't expect you to listen.
But, believe it or not, there are people here interested in discussion and that's who I'm talking to.
Your repetitive insults and nihilistic attempts to quash any sort of debate are a minor irritant, for sure, but you're wasting your breath.
It's going to carry on, and my advice would be to stay out of it.
Or share an opinion.

I do think Goodlad would be happier if we were more like Saudi Arabia, where criticising the government gets you fifty years in jail.

Michael Gove sticking the boot in now

Even that snake says the budget was wrong and he wouldn't vote for it

Anyway hes probably already eyeing up a job in the NEXT Tory cabinet ...

I did, in your quoted post.
Because you don't like it does not mean it's not an opinion.
'stay out of it' lol. That's a bit strong. Only your words count eh.
If you want private discussions go to private forums.

"I don't know, time will tell" is hardly an opinion.
I'm more than aware of your opinion of me.
It's your opinion on the matters of the day that would add to the discussion.
And I don't want a private discussion - I want a discussion with anyone willing to - well - discuss.

I think they meant express an opinion on politics rather than one on other people on the forum.

Michael Gove sticking the boot in now

I reckon he still fancies his chances.
Based mainly on the "Last man standing" principle.

Gove is a loon, and anything he attacks has got to be good.

The budget was good, but communicated and prepared badly. I hope Truss is able to stay the course as she has the radical reforming policies we need.

Defining the rules on discussions now.
,Stay out of it - as well.
Goodlad gets plenty of personal flak on here but luckily I'm bullet proof.
What's that old saying, ah yes, if you can't take it, don't give it.

At last - an opinion.
Wrong - but an opinion, nonetheless.
? But, in all seriousness, are you happy with massive reduction to the Welfare state?
It's OK, you're allowed to be - but that Is the inevitable outcome.
We then have to trust that (IF it works) with all the increased wealth concentrated at the top - some of it will be bestowed on the rest of us.
I'm uncomfortable with that because I don't believe in trickle down economics.
Increasing the size of the pie is OK, as long as there are safeguards that we all get a decent slice afterwards - and that, on the way to hypothetically "more pie", people don't die from lack of real, actuall 'pie'.
I'm not convinced these safeguards are either in place, or even considered important by the current incumbents.
