Nonsense

My dad was a fully paid up member of the Labour Party and a party activist for years and years

He has now voted green for the last few elections

Plus what about all the red wall muppets who switched to Tory- just 'to get Brexit done'

Bet they're glad now

Well I'm eternally that Brexit is done.

Does TV news count on this thread?

On BBC Breakfast this morning, with loads of padding from the reporter, running out of things to say - Boris getting on the plane for Balmoral :-

"And there's Boris getting on the jet plane with Carrie, who is wearing a pink dress also."

Carrie looked nice, but I think Boris made a mistake with that little off the shoulder number - made me smile, anyway.

Eternally what , though?
Ashamed?
Despondent?
Unconvinced?
Bemused?

I'm just glad that thanks to Brexit we took back control of our borders and that immigration is no longer an issue.

They've had ample opportunities but keep scoring own goals. If there was a viable alternative the Tories would've been out years ago.

Maybe there hasn't always been a viable alternative before but there certainly is now. The Tories have failed Britain time and time again. Boris Johnson resigned in disgrace and left the nation in a mess. Keir Starmer's Labour is clearly a far more credible alternative now. The worst blow anyone seems to be able to land on Starmer is that he's boring. That's not enough!

Liz Truss delivering her speech outside No.10.
Oh, sorry...that's a bin-bag.
The real Liz Truss is stuck in traffic.

You should be a comedian, Chris.

:D It made me laugh anyway.

Hmmm...I'm not sure, given the current state of the opinion polls, that most people feel the same way about this as you guys do!

I don't agree that hatred is blinding Labour's judgement either. Keir Starmer doesn't exactly come across as someone "blinded by hate".
Right-wing people generally seem much angrier and prone to feelings of hatred than Lefties do. It's obvious even on this (generally very conservative) forum.
Lefties do, after all, have much to be angry about currently. The country's a mess. The economy's in dire straits. The last Prime Minister just resigned in disgrace. The NHS is a wreck. Brexit doesn't really seem to have worked out and has undeniably damaged the economy. I watched an episode of EastEnders the other day and was left feeling like the nation has been transported back to the 1970s.
In contrast, right-wing people should be over the moon! Everything has gone their way in recent years. They won the Battle of Brexit. The Tories have been in power for TWELVE YEARS!
So are they happy? Are they hell! They are the least contented and the most-hate filled of all! Some of the Tory leadership candidates clearly hated each other. Dominic Cummings hated Johnson. Other right-wingers hate immigrants, the EU (still blaming them for things even though we have left), and hate the media (even though the press is so fiercely pro-Tory). They tend not to mention the ailing NHS but do hate people like Angela Rayner simply because they once had children out of wedlock.
The Tories: making people hate again.

Ah, those reliable opinion polls where no one was asked and no one knows anyone that was asked.

You forgot to mention covid lockdown and a war in Ukraine that has buggered every EU and European country but I suppose that doesn't count.

You used the word 'hate a lot there....

Really? Jewish Labour MPs getting death threats, Blairite MPs being bullied out of office, Tory MP murdered, anti capitalist protesters smashing up banks in the City, X-Rebels smashing petrol pumps and blocking motorways, academics bullied out of jobs by trans-rights groups, statues slung in rivers? What political wing I wonder are these people aligned to?

Er...yes. I was discussing the word 'yate' because you yourself said 'Labour's hatred blinds their judgement.' That was the point!
