I would have been bloody petrified

I don't give a f**k about Pulp.

I would have been bloody petrified

I will survive though.

Pulp are shit.
Their reunion will be shit.
Common People is a shit song.
Saying that a non-common person doesn't live like a common person is a shit thing to say, like saying a curtain rail doesn't live like a warthog.
If you think that Common People is profound, you are shit.
If you know all the words to Common People, which is shit, you are shit.
If you listen to Common People, which is still shit, and say, 'It's true, isn't it?' you are shit and a wanker.
If you are looking forward to Pulp reforming, you are shit and a wanker and shit.
Pulp are so shit.

Common People is a brilliant pop song - the best to come out of the Brit pop era

I don't give a f**k about the lyrics etc etc - it just sounds f**king ace

Anyway I'm listening to Gloomsbury- which is a hoot!

!

Common People is the song the Beatles wish there good enough to write.

I'm listening to Warren Zevon's Transverse City.

Common People is shit. Anyone who hears 'You're not a common person so you don't live like one' and finds it profound is a total c**t. Yeah, I'm not a mongoose so I don't live like a mongoose. You f**king genius.

Who said anything about profound? Oh you Monkhouse!

Quote: Chappers @ 31st July 2022, 9:12 PM

Who said anything about profound? Oh you Monkhouse!

This is what he calls profound...

Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want
So tell me what you want, what you really, really want
I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want
So tell me what you want, what you really, really want
I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha)
I wanna really, really, really wanna zigazig ah

?

"zigazig ah" is profound. Just like "Wonderwall". I thought Common People was about the gentry seeing poverty as glamorous. Bit like white middle class British kids adopting America street culture and lingo ? The guilt of privilege ? But Monkehouse might have a point. Surely great lyrics are ambiguous enough to mean different things to different people ? Like most of Bob Dylan's lyrics.

To me, they mean, We are shit.

Leave my religion out of this.

Shania Twaine can't coniugate verbs. That don't impress me much.

Transvision Wank, I Want Your Love. It is total and utter f**king shit. It always cracked me up how Wanky James used to go on about how she was 'just normal', but get a real kick out of stardom - or moan about guys looking at women as objects rather than artistes and then turn up on TOTP doused in cooking oil. Girl Power, eh? And don't feed me all this neo-feminist bolox about women celebrating their bodies after centuries of exploitation. Total tack. What a skank.

That song was out in thirty-four years ago in 1988 and you're finally doing gags about it. I look forward to your take on Dua Lipa in2056.
