Tory leadership Page 20

Truss is a nice throwback to the Doomed Bald Men years, when the Tories elected William Hague, Michael Howard and Ian Duncan Smith as their leader. She's a woman and has hair but has that same vibe.

Agreed.
She's Opposition Ready.

They're not called The 1922 Committee for nothing...

There's no way Labour can win the next GE?

The swing required is fairly astronomical

They can lead a rainbow coalition of destruction, however.

Well, currently some polling figures and projections have an outright Labour win.
But that will undoubtedly dwindle over the next 18 months
But a loose Progressive Alliance has a chance.
The next Tory PM is going to land slap-bang in the middle of a financial shit-show.
It's going to be hard for them to hit the ground running.
And nether candidate can pretend its a 'fresh start' as they were key players in the preceding shambles.
The Party is pretty well split down the middle and there will be people snapping at the new incumbent's heels - especially if it's Liz.
Don't rule out another Leadership bid.
Labour will need the Libs and a couple of Greens - and probably a love/hate alliance with the SNP.
Not a sure thing by a million miles - but eminently do-able.
One Tory MP, on hearing the result, was heard to be muttering "Well, that's lost us the next election" as he left the 1922 Committee Room.

Not sure how...

SNP would want a guaranteed referendum- no chance

The Lib. dems nearly destroyed themselves when they went into power with Cameron

Not sure where the coalition would come from

I think you underestimate the hatred for this Tory government.
The Libs are only scarred because they wen't into coalition with the Tories - a huge f**king mistake which I think, most of them - especially the new intake - regret to this day.
They are much closer to Labour - especially Starmers Labour.
They've already worked together to boot the Tory's out of a couple of seats.
SNP are trickier. But they're not going to get anything from the Tories - they'd probably chuck there hat in just to dislodge the Conservatives - perhaps for a few promises on increased funding/more jurisdiction over areas currently run from Westminster - and work from there.
Independence is coming - it's just a matter of when.
Same with Ireland.

It can be done. And with Truss as leader, it'll be easier.

I think it's all a ruse on her part

Sure she comes across as a brainless simpleton now

But once she gets the top job - the mask will come off and POW!

It turns out, she's even dumber

They can lead a rainbow coalition of destruction, however.

Is there anything left to destroy?

We don't underestimate the hatred for the Tory government, it's plain to see here.
Hatred from the opposition doesn't win voters though, if anything it alienates them.
None of you can hardly write a sentence without recourse to horrible names - names you'd be upset to be called.
Labour could do it... Thanks for the laugh though.

Genuinely not much nastiness on here. Other than from yourself.

Any chance you could come up with a cogent political argument rather than just pulling faces from the sidelines?
And, for your information, it's OK to hate people who are making the poor poorer and the rich richer.
Injustice is something to be reviled, not celebrated.
So, stop snarking and defend your political choices - like many of us are - and we'll listen.

You are probably mistaking nastiness for the truth. Easy to do when everything you want or vote for never comes to fruition. Pesky democracy letting the majority win.
