I suppose "Oh f**king grow up" would be insensitive?

Yer average man can't keep up with all the name changes.
And worse, if you don't know the latest name change or forget, you are the one in the firing line.
I thought midgets now preferred small people as a title...so why change a sweet name?
Cynically, it might be for advertising reasons.
And as for never hearing of midget gems, they have been making them since the 40's and are sold in every sweet shop and supermarket in the country.

Apparently "Midget" is an extension of "MIdge" - any small insect................

Does that mean the lead singer of Ultravox will now have to be known as Person of Small Stat-Ure

"The word "Midget " really upsets some people - would you consider changing the name?"
"Certainly - why needlessly upset anyone?"

That's how long that conversation should go on.

If not upsetting people were the sole criterion for opting whether or not to do something, very few (if any) television programmes would ever have been broadcast, there would be no political movements and nobody would ever post on these forums. Of course that may be a good thing...

It's not the sole criteria - but always worth considering.
Purposely doing it when it's no skin off your nose not doing it would, I suggest, be a tad c**tish.

Its the 'Stretch & Bend conundrum that has always perplexed me? For instance in a supermarket its ok to ask someone tall to 'Stretch' to get you something from higher shelves. But ask someone little to get you something from the bottom shelf to save you 'Bending' and there's f**king murder.
For the record its easy to make a mistake with all these new words so a simple apology and an attempt not to use the word again often suffices. Why go out of your way to offend as a defence against modernisation ?

Some people do seem weirdly offended by the idea that they are being stopped from being allowed to offend people. (And they're not being stopped, they are still perfectly free to be offensive if that's their bag).

My company and I were genuinely disappointed to hear that we are going back to nuclear power and fracking as we don't like them. More to the point, it will affect our profits, apart from in the Irish Sea. We have long been producing paintings that are 15 miles wide and 3 miles high. These are attached to stands which extend from just above the water line to the sea bed.

Designed to be placed immediately in front of offshore wind farms, they show a natural horizon seemingly extending into eternity below a vast area of sunlit sky. Sheer brilliance really. One of my better ideas. No one need know that the wind farms are there. But sadly we now have a surplus of them so if anyone wants one just let me know. 5 pence each. You arrange the transport.

Well, you can't call midgets, midgets so all is lost.

Do you remember in One Foot in the Grave where Victor was staying at a B & B and some young foreign girls were complaining about "Midges in the Bathroom" so Victor went in with a fly spray.

Good memory Dave - yes, very funny, but don't tell the woke police.

Burger King has been accused of misleading customers by making its food look bigger in adverts than what it serves.

A federal lawsuit alleges the fast food chain started inflating the sizes of its burgers in pictures in 2017 and has misled customers as a result.

Before that, the suit claims the company "more fairly" advertised its food products.

Today, the size of virtually every food item advertised by Burger King is "materially overstated", it claims

Ummm someone should tell them Macdonalds has been doing this for about 30 years

Actors with tiny hands.

I will only buy a burger if Brix Smith is sitting on one.

So they need to be fairly wide if not big.

I'm failing to see why there is so much fuss about Rishi Sunak's wife - apart from Starmer and his crew trying to grasp at another straw.
As far as I can read and see, she pays her UK taxes and pays her Indian taxes on her Indian business.
The fact that she earns £millions from her Indian business is nothing to do with UK HMRC. She doesn't have to pay twice on the same earnings.
Starmer should stop smearing his wife or Rishi might walk across the floor and slap him.
