So You Think You've Got Troubles

Hi everyone,

I'm a master's student and I'm writing my thesis on Derry Girls and its impact on the way we remember the Troubles and its depiction of Northern Irish society.
I'm writing a part when I'm establishing an overview of the way the Troubles have been portrayed so far and more particularly when it's been portrayed through comedy.

I was able to come across the name of the miniseries So You Think You've Got Troubles (1991) but I can't seem to find it anywhere! Does anybody know of a website where I can watch it or purchase it or knows someone who has downloaded it or recorded it somehow?

It's very important to me and it would save me to get my hands on it, so if anybody can help out I'd highly appreciate it!

Thank you,
CĂ©lia

Hi Celiarl. I have the series (although it's not a 'miniseries' - just a sitcom that only lasted one series), however you would be best advised to go through your academic institution for a fully legal, authorised route.

If you're enrolled with a UK institution then BUFVC is what you need. If you're at an Irish one, I would hope there is an international affiliacy you can go through. I'd start with the BUFVC website, then check your institution's resources (probably through library services) and see where you get to.

You may also find The Fitz a worthwhile watch.

Thank you Aaron!
I'm working at an Irish university but I am enrolled as a student in a French university and neither of them are affiliated with BUFVC, thank you for the recommendation however! And I've looked at both institution's resources but neither have access to the series unfortunately...
My research is mostly based on Derry Girls itself, but I would like to have an idea of sitcoms that have explored the subject before that. Do you think there's a way you could share the series with me ? If you're comfortable with it of course.

I'll dig around in the morning and see what I can find.

Thanks a million Aaron!

That's got to be worth a look for Warren Mitchell alone.

Foreign Bodies? Longer running evidently, although I've not seen either. If shown today I would have but back then, you couldn't possibly fit every sitcom in. How times have changed.
