They were just ordinary blokes.
I was a junior in an advertising agency at the time, and I think I was pulling in more than Pat was.
He certainly never chipped in for the petrol!
Must have been great times, lucky bugger
Quote: Lazzard @ 4th August 2021, 10:42 AMThey both left in l 1982.
I knew Pat McMullen, the bassist who took over.
He used to play for The (Count) Bishops, who I also knew well.
Which was also where the Feelgood's then current guitarist, Johnny Guitar, had come from.
Pat couldn't drive so I was his personal roadie for a while - plenty of backstage admin and after show larks!
Once Johhny and Pat left, there was only Lee Brilleux and, to my mind, things went off.
Didn't even buy the next few albums they put out, before Lee popped his clogs.
I think the current line is is an anathema - but apparently it had Lee's blessing - perhaps it was to keep the pennies coming in for his family.
I've got a a couple of (Count) Bishops albums. Thought they were very good although another band I never got to see along with the Inmates.
I couldn't quite understand the Feelgoods carrying on with no original members but like the Drifters I suppose.
Quote: Chappers @ 4th August 2021, 3:30 PM.............................but like the Drifters I suppose.
Saw the Drifters in the servicemen's club at USAF Bentwaters sometime in the mid 70s when they were fronted by Johnny Moore and somewhere (?) have the band's signatures on the back of the ticket. Fabulous night!
A long time ago so may not be accurate, the BBC had an hour on The Kursaal Flyers. They were a good bunch and kept mentioning Dr Feelgood and Eddie and the Hot Rods. This was the time of the awful glam rock so I was desperate to discover something decent.

Oh yeah.
A likely story.
I saw Ned's Atomic Dustbin at the (old) Bull and Gate.
Genuine best wishes to you - and I'll say no more about it.
Yeah, well I was Molly Sugden's bridesmaid.
Quote: Michael Monkhouse @ 5th August 2021, 2:50 PMYeah, well I was Molly Sugden's bridesmaid.
Old news mate. If you recall, I was the one at the wedding arranging the church bobsleigh. I was just pissed off by the fact that you had to be the big memory of the day, didn't you, going for the tight bodice and jockstrap combination under all your floating about in white gossamer. Relive it all now if you insist but I am just relieved that I got you into the Goose and Shreddies for a decent normal blokey pint of proper real ale.

This would've been after punk took off. If you want some mid 70s Hot Rods
Surprisingly, the documentary, the Pistols and the above single were all from 1976.
Pretty sure the Hotrods only formed in '75.
For your amusement. Harmony before punk took off
These days I listen (too well known, - the level of the greatest):
Steely Dan "Can't Buy a Thrill". What an album!, paragon sounds of guitar and snare drum. Even with costly guitar processors (IR load and all) this guitar sound is unreachable.
