The shop itself felt a bit like the Not The Nine O'Clock News sketch (I think) where someone wants to buy a stereo and they blind him with jargon.

Yes, and very funny too:-

Question, just watched series 1 and own series 2 and there was one episode that Mike was in a wheelchair and made it lift so he could get to the high shelves and I didn't see it. Does anyone remember that one?

I think that's the final episode, 'Celebrity' - the one where Peter Davison turns up in the café.

Right you are. Stupid me, I own it. Thank you sir.

Been attempting to watch the rerun of this but I just can't bear more than a few minutes of it in any one go. Shame, it was an sas made just when they were going out of fashion, written by a writer with a big hit behind him, but he's gone too much for that horrible cool and quirky vibe of the period. It seemed back then as if every new sitcom made had to either appeal to a younger audience, tried to be 'subversive' in form or style or just didn't want to be what your mum and dad watched.

Technically flawed imo by too many regular characters (you don't need four staff in a small and not very busy specialist shop and you definitely don't need four same sex characters locked in the same small and narrow sitcom setting) and the miscasting of one of the blandest, one note actors for a sitcom lead I can ever remember. His home scenes are excruciating, sometimes there is just an absence of script, thinking his facial expressions can hold a whole scene. >_< Apologies to those who like it, but all sitcoms run the gauntlet of opinionated viewers like me.

It is being shown on one station - London Live I think - and it does seem very dated - even for its time.

I watched it for two episodes, when first aired - thought it was crap.

I think forces tv were repeating it thought I would give it another go but it's a painful watch, I looked it up to see when it was first broadcast but it seemed it was even dated for then it was like one of the bad sitcoms from the seventies or early eighties
