Help please

Can someone hep me please...I'm trying to remember the name of a classic "naughty schoolboy" character, from probably the 50s, who not only featured in several books, but had his cartoon image used as an avatar here by a member in the past. It's not Billy Bunter, but he is of that sort of stature. He'd always be on the make, trying to earn a few extra bob, and contriving to avoid any tasks he didn't want to attend to.

Jimmy Clitheroe??

The only naughty school boy I can think of is William Brown but he isn't anything like you describe. He is always trying to do good deeds.

Jimmy Edwards? School teacher not pupil, but right era/area?

Dennis the Menace?

Molesworth.
