I just adore Black Books! It's the series that got me so interested in British comedy.
And it has to be the most quotable comedy ever!
Favourite episodes:
Series 1: Has to be episode 3 where Bernard and Manny house-sit. The scene where they try to re-create the wine is hilarious.
'What are you eating?'
'It's some kind of delicious biscuit.'
'It's a coaster.'
Series 2: The episode where Manny gets 'Dave's Syndrome'. 'Stop her! She's breaking the law!'
'Bernard, she was never your girlfriend, it's just the heat playing tricks with your mind.'
'It's not the heat. There's nothing wrong with my mind'
'You're wearing an acordion.'
Series 3: Elephants And Hens - Bernard and Manny have to write a children's book and Fran goes to a friend's hen party.
'And then the boat pulls up and it's laiden with paparazzi and I'll say 'You Filth!' Photograph me if you must, but leave her alone, she didn't ask for any of this, she's just an ordinary lingerie model!'
Or thinking about it, Party is fabulous because of the section near the end where all of Bernard's and Fran's secrets come out: 'But I've been reading your short stories, 'Brendan Blake turned from the window and patted Larry, his barely homonoid milk-fed gimp!'' <---you can't get much better than that!
Oooops. Apologies. I got a bit carried away there....
