Help I need PC Geeks!

I'm going to try and set up dual monitors for my PC. My video card has both a VGA and DVI port. Does that mean it will be capable of running dual monitors?

You've obviously been sticking your VGA monitor into a DVI slot >_<

I prefer geckoes.

Adam: Are you certain? Some graphics cards will only let you use one or the other. Best to read around a lot before shelling out ££££ for a new display. :)

You can buy a 2-monitor-display graphics card for 30 squids.

See Amazon product listing

And that's the bit you need to convert the DVI to a regular VGA monitor. Easy as.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? :D

Yeah I saw that adapter for 1p. I'm getting a new monitor anyway and then passing my one onto my dad who has one of those acient box ones. Just was thinking as I have two monitor slots on my video card that I could try and hook my dad's to mine aswell. I'm guessing as i only bought my PC about a year ago the card should support two (its a Radeon X16000 card just incase anyone can tell me if it definately does or does not support dual monitors)

definitely*

If you have a DVI port and VGA port you will be able to run dual monitors assuming your OS is XpP or above you shouldn't really have any trouble - just have to define whether you have a relatively standard DVI - I or DVI - D slot, you most likely have the I but good to check.

I think the cable you need is probably going to cost about £20 as well.

late geek to the rescue!!

:) Thanks Paul
