Where did he come from? suddenly other acts look old and tired
James Acaster

That sobered me up. I was expecting to meet Alcaster but instead confronted by a bunch of squatters. I spent the whole time doing a Portillo and looking over my hosts shoulder.
Not denigrating the rest of the ensemble just never seen them before.
He's a major talent. Perhaps the biggest to emerge in the last five years.
Makes me smile the way Tommy Cooper or Bobby Ball could.
I think he's very funny.
He's excellent and very left field. As were Mitch Hedberg or Eddie Izzard back in the day.
Not really convinced myself. His "left field oddness" shtick might wear out given time. Some comedians one note performances can soon become annoying. Joe Wilkinson was great for a while but his "I'm a gormless weirdo" routine is just tiresome now.
I heard you the first time!
His new special is great, hopefully it will get an actual release soon.
I think Acaster is this generation's Stewart Lee. He's so astute and in control of his persona.
Rewatched it.
It's a high-energy show and a lot of it seemed to borrow quite heavily, directly or not, from Stewart Lee. The latter comment isn't a criticism at all however, as Acaster is similarly talented and knows what works about Lee's stand-up. I loved the teasing of his old Christian audience who think they know more about comedy than him, including the description of the cup of tea. Lee's use of imagery is something that isn't talked about enough.
