Let me get back to you on that. :)

In the meantime I strongly recommend you check this out. I think he'll be right up your street. I expect Mr. Radish is already familiar with him. :)

Phosphorescent | Watch A Concert A Day

They usually change the link to something else. I'll edit/update it if/when they do.

Thanks.I did catch it ,very good.I seem to have a penchant for singer songwriters, something I've never really thought about before.

Thanks Horse.
I'm going to spend a few idle hours watching Tom Corbett space cadet.
I'll also scrutinize your Boss list when I can find my magnifying glass.

Paddy McCoont reckoned himself 'one of the greatest songwriters around'.
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque.

Paul McCartney....

La la la la la la la la
Keeping us warm in the night
La la la la la la la la la la la
Walk in the light
You'll get it right
Win or lose, sink or swim
One thing is certain, we'll never give in
Side by side, hand in hand
We all stand together

Sheesh

It's just a fun song for kids, not a bid for world's greatest songwriter. The appearance of lovable children's character and Father Jenkins' wank fantasy Rupert gives that away.
When I was a kid, we used to sing Poopert, Poopert the Bear. Hours of fun.
My personal favourite McCartney lyric is:

Oklahoma was never like this.
Never like this,
It was never like this.
Ever like this,
Say was it ever like this?
Oklahoma was never like this...
It was never like this!

Haha!

F**king crap!!

And let's not forget solo debut Lovely Linda. The best part is that some dingbat felt the urge to transcribe it for YouTube lest we miss a nuance.

Thanks for checking out Phosphorescent. I'm playing it for the fourth time now. :)

I have his album "Muchacho" which I really like, but this really blew me away. I love the piano & organ sound.

I could also hear traces of Dylan and Bap which is why I especially recommended it to you.

Having slept on your Springsteen question, I'm going to change my answer. I'm guessing you already have either of the "Born" albums?

Anyway, in your shoes, assuming you know him a bit already but want to explore him in more depth, here's what I suggest. I think you should listen to his four album run from "Born To Run" chronologically. But give each album its due time. At least a week, but ideally longer, before moving on to the next. So that's -

1. Born To Run

2. Darkness on the Edge of Town

3. The River

4. Nebraska

Once you've done that, you can reward yourself by listening to "We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions". :D

Neanderthal Man by Hotlegs, Part of the Union by the Strawbs & Friends by Arrival on the Now 70s channel. Haven't heard any of those for years. Memories...

I hope someone listens to that Phosphorescent gig - it's one of the best things I've heard this year.

Thank you. I have started dipping into it and I like it. It isn't the first time I have been aware of Phosphorescent. I know a couple of previous years' albums were in my extensive end of year review listening sessions. For some reason, I've got bands like Allah-Las in my mind so they were probably in that sort of bunch but having said as much it is not what I expected from the name. I had managed to think of it as time passed as more indie in the vein of something like My Bloody Valentine but it clearly isn't and it is more Dylan/Young. I think I hear a bit of Petty there too. So now I'm thinking more in the category of the late and rather great Willard Grant Conspiracy - well, Robert Fisher died - or maybe aspects of the earlier Grant Lee Buffalo but more in the 1970s vibe. I will need to listen to more, though, to get a proper picture.

I think you will find that it was the first and only protest song about the horrendous wet markets in New Mexico.

That one intervention led them to being banned and it ultimately saved the NHS.

Yeah, I also like all those artists you reference there. Petty is a good call. I hadn't noticed the vocal similarities there till you mentioned him.

Iggy was streamed tonight.

Iggy Pop - Post Pop Depression Live At The Royal Albert Hall

Iggy is the real punk isn't he?
He's very popular down here,he's matey with Molly Meldrum the host of Countdown (similar to Top pf the Pops)

Yes, Prefab Sprout have changed the innermost fabric of society. Not just a bunch of jumoed up, heads up their own jacksie, pseudo art school wankuz. How do they do it? What's their secret? I guess we'll never know.
