Yes - Series 1 before Doris Hare took the role. I was in a mate's parents car in the late 70s. Pagham, I think. His mother studied the ballet, she never had to work and she had a cleaner. She was a lovely, lovely woman - I really liked her - but I am not so sure that she could always be relied on to be accurate. And we're going in their family Porsche with its Bentley engine or whatever it was - it could have been a Rover - past a few chavs in kiss me quick hats with big candyfloss.
And she says "ooh, look, it's Cicely Courtneidge". My mate and I hadn't a soddin' clue who she was. He was into Gong and I was into the Clash and early Dooleys. Anyhow, he really took the proverbial. I felt so sorry for her. She may have been right. She may have been wrong. It wasn't totally ludicrous but it was quite an unlikely scenario. A big name in her day.

A great many years ago, there was a musical show "Dial for Music" on TV in which viewers would phone in to request a song and one of the regular artists on the show would be selected to sing it.
One of the artists was Ronnie Carroll, a singer who was very popular on TV at the time.
In one episode, the compere introduced him as "the vivacious Ronnie Carroll".
Quick as a flash, Ronnie's lawyers were onto the TV company threatening libel action.
Apparently, they took the view that "vivacious" was not an adjective normally applied to men.
Ronnie, however, saw no harm in it and instructed his lawyers not to proceed.

The one you have posted there is my favourite by Carter USM. Saw them live a couple of times in what I'd call "The Gary Crowley Years". He played that "number" very many times. The name Nicholas Van Whatsisface sounded suspiciously like the name Nicholas Van Hoogstraten who was convicted in connection with property misdemeanours. I was living in Sutton in the late 1990s and stepped out of my door for work one morning to find the end of my road cordoned off with lots of police and murder enquiry signs.
