BROWN: So, how’s the budget going, Darling?

DARLING:Well, Gordon, we’ve saved a hundred million cutting benefits from single mums.

BROWN: Ye-es.

DARLING:Two hundred from persistent drug addicts.

BROWN: Good.

DARLING:And three hundred and fifty from the long-term sick.

BROWN: Over (BEAT) six hundred million!

DARLING:(SMUGLY) Yes! Exactly what we need for ...

BROWN: ) (TOGETHER) M.P.'s pay!

It was in the Treason show last weekend, and went down well, but it had been significantly rewritten, so I wanted to see what people thought of the original.

It was good but I felt I'd heard this type of joke before.
