Wish me luck...

I've been using a general writers' site called Helium.com for about a month now. After about a week I had a Californian company get in touch because they liked the writing style of my articles. We had a teleconference call about 3 weeks ago and I've submitted more material and then this morning I get the following email:

---------

Dear Jeremy,

Thank you for your application to [name deleted]. In order to complete your application, a phone interview is required.

We are scheduling appointments to chat this Monday and Tuesday for presenting artists via our digital portfolio software at the Digital Media Summit in New York which starts on Wednesday March 12.

---------

The Digital Media Summit ( http://www.digitalhollywood.com/MediaSummit.html ) looks to be a big event so if I can pull off inclusion in this portfolio I could be onto something really cool. They've got 28 interview slots in total and mine is at 10.30pm GMT which is apparently 3.30pm Pacific Time due to daylight saving (normally 8 hours difference)

Send me some positive vibes!
Cool

That's great news! Good luck with the interview!!

Good Luck!!

Good luck.

I put something on Helium ages ago and they keep contacting me.

Maybe I'll give it a go again.

Good luck Tuumble!

Don't forget to put on your very best Noel Coward voice and you'll have them eating out the palm of your hand!

'I'm terribly, terribly good!' :D

Good luck Tuumble!

Tell us how it goes.

I used to write on Helium, merely because I thought I could make enough money on the side, but I couldn't be bothered.

*Gets back on helium*

By the way if any of you like arguing, there forums are great, amazing debating, but sometimes it can get a bit link this site to prove this and link this site to prove that, still good though.

Oh yeah and congrats, hope it goes well!

The call went well and it looks to be an interesting project but unfortunately, to get the full benefit they want a minimum of $250 which I haven't got right now. They have other options that include business coaching and mentoring with help with marketing yada-yada but that's even more.

The system they use at the conference I mentioned is to tie-in advertisers with particular content on portable touch-screen terminals. Not only does this generate sales for the advertisers but means that the content provider - which could include video, audio etc - can put their name in front of a great number of people.

The main website offer is a portal that features my portfolio with options on how these could be developed for customers considering purchasing/lisensing content. Bit more to it than that but that's the gist.

They apparently have a 3 month 'recruitment' drive and then that's it for the year and this is about to end. That makes me slightly suspicious but the checks I've made seem sound and Helium have also been in touch about them as they are registered advertiser.

I shall be getting an email today which will explain what options I have. I'll see what that says before making a final decision.

I certainly wouldn't give them any money.

Good luck

I've cooled on this - not had any correspondence since and some things strike me as dodgy

It was nice while it lasted
