New sitcoms being written for live audiences?

Does anyone ever write with the intention of their sitcom being filmed in front of a studio audience?

I really wish studio sitcoms made a come-back.

We only have Not Going Out off the top of my head.

If I am going to write a sitcom, I would intend for it to be filmed in front of a live studio audience.

Mrs Brown's Boys?

I agree. Most of my favourite sitcoms have an audience.

I suppose it's better than a dead studio audience.

Mrs Brown's Boys?

Well, that makes 2.

Wahay!

I've written two pilot scripts in the past year for studio sitcoms (submitted one to BBC Writer's Room) but didn't make the cut.

I like the immediacy of a live studio audience and feel that there are just so many successful single-cam comedies that studio-based ones don't get much of a look in anymore... shame really.

You mean like Not Going Out and (hate to say this) Mrs Brown's Boys. I'm sure that Upstart Crow is too.

Also The Goes Wrong Show.

The latest one I wrote is for a live audience. Aimed at children and a very 'panto' vibe.

Not that it's ever going to get on TV of course!
