Want to write for Coronation Street?

Word on the street (as the saying goes) is that Coronation Street is looking for a new scriptwriter with the ability to write comedy as the show moves away from dark storylines towards a brighter and funnier future.

New producer Iain MacLeod wants lighter plots and funnier scripts following the departure of previous producer Kate Oates who recently stepped outside saying she may be gone for some time.

And how does one get to do this? Any links? Any info?

I'd rather write, and for that matter watch, Sesame Street.

It's easy to write for Corrie. You just list a bunch of clichés and overused metaphors.

Ken: It's raining cats and dogs out there

Deirdre: it's just a drop in t'ocean chuck

Steve: Chance'll be a fine thing

Gail: If I had a penny for every time someone said that.

Peggy: Get out of my pub.

No

Well I don't really know.

I suggest you write to:

Iain MacLeod
Producer
Coronation Street
Weatherfield
Manchester.

Before anybody points out any faults with the above address, I would like to say two things: firstly, this is a comedy forum and secondly, I bet you anything you like your letter will reach his desk.
