Hearing radio announcers who are too lazy to pronounce the letter G at the end of words such as Learnin' , Runnin' , Livin'

Reminds me of one of my favourite youth-oriented shows from the '80s, Nosin' Around. Class.

It's not that they can't. It's just sheer laziness.

When they say Singing they say Singin'. If they really had a problem they'd say Sin'in'.

Exactly. There's one reporter, Beth Rigby, who drives me nuts with this. She speaks perfectly clearly in every other way except for 'ing' words. I did ONCE hear her say 'ing', so she can do it. I don't think it's laziness in her case - I think it's some sort of weird affectation, but whenever she appears I scream and shout.

It always makes me cringe.

I've been here for 12 years and I've only noticed young and youngish women do it.It is annoying.

Everyone says "two times " nowadays not "twice",that bugs me as well.

Is that because you've heard them the first time

To make it a perfect Incredible Hulk moment they go up in pitch at the end of every sentence. It's a style of enunciation that seems to come from Australia because everyone does it there. It's giving a statement but with the vocal sound of a question and it shouldn't bother me, no....but it does. Within minutes of watching that Australian airport TV show I'm so enraged I tear off all my clothes and try to pick up and throw the nearest person.

Do you remember the scene in Family Guy where Stewie is talking to Brian and his voice keeps going higher and higher?

I Don't CRINGE. I just want to stuff a dog turd in her face - you know how aggressive we Scots are. :D

Picking the nose. I hate it and it is absolutely gross on part of the people who do it.

Well, if it's good enough for Sylvia Plath... http://daviddobbs.net/smoothpebbles/sylvia-plath-on-nose-picking-and-other-readings/

Picking the nose? Whose nose? Your nose? Yes I can understand how annoying it must be for somebody picking your nose.

Is she wearing them?

Women in short skirts who are always pulling them down trying to make sure they don't show too much leg.

Bloody hell, love if you don't want to show too much leg wear a bleedin' longer skirt in the first place!

QED

:)

I chose my nose.
I hate it when people use participles as nouns, but that's a given.

Celebrities who sell out just for the extra buck really piss me off as it's a growing trend and something I would never do myself. I've never been money driven and my modest lifestyle and principles make me who I am and no-one can ever change that which is what I cherish the most. For me it's what makes life worth living and I spring from bed each morning ready for the day ahead with an honour beyond reproach.

Anyway, round about now I usually have a - POT NOODLE.

Going 'around the back for a Pot Noodle..' has connotations..

Just caught her saying the 'ing' in 'trying' so she can do it. What is she trying to prove with all this 'in' stuff?

From a recent interview with Morrissey:

MORRISSEY: London is debased. The Mayor of London tells us about "Neighborhood policin " - what is 'policin'? He tells us London is an "amazin " city. What is 'amazin'? This is the Mayor of London! And he cannot talk properly! I saw an interview where he was discussing mental health, and he repeatedly said "men'el " ... he could not say the words 'mental health'. The Mayor of London! Civilisation is over!
