Ordinary WD40 is not a particularly good penetrating releasing fluid; Plus Gas is much better.
The ordinary WD40 was designed as a water absorption chemical for Military Rockets. The reputation as a releasing fluid just comes from their intensive advertising.

The WD40 company makes an alternative product which, as far as I know, is a proper releasing fluid. The mere fact that they make it 'proves' that ordinary WD40 is not much good as a releasing agent.

LIFE, it starts as "The Goonies" and turns into "Driving Miss Daisy" after a few years...glad to see I'm not the only one.

haha so true. I miss the days of loitering around the town centre with my mates every Saturday and playing arcade games. Before you know it the arcade becomes the bookies and raspberryade is now lager.

I've not got the Goonies on DVD so must get that this week. Not seen it for a long time.

Yes thanks. I'd already seen that and wrote to the Daily Mail yesterday.

I would beg to differ Billwill.
WD40 just takes longer to penetrate and free.

There are better substances for quick freeing but if left on overnight, it will penetrate.

Hello BCG, got your arse in gear then? Ready for a wonderful day? :)

Shrug: I didn't say that it doesn't work at all, but the mere fact that the company sells a better one, proves that ordinary WD40 is not particularly good as a releasing agent.

You don't have to shrug
I was pointing it out as most people have WD-40 hanging around somewhere (they probably don't have the other product)
If you spray it on and expect a quick release, it most likely wont. But come back tomorrow and it will.

Vaseline is not much good for freeing rusted nuts.

Whistling nnocently

I've been looking out for a second hand hifi system for the kitchen for months and found the deal of the century yesterday in Cash Converters. It's a Phillips MC147 mini hifi system that cost only £14.99. The tape player is broken which is probably why it was so cheap but I only wanted it for the radio and CD player and it has a 3.5mm mini jack aux input so I can connect my phone or cassette player and play music from that. A prerequisite was it had to have an aux input and a bonus is it has bass boost and a remote control. I'm trying to make the kitchen more inviting so I spend more time in there cooking and I've been in there all day spring cleaning to a plethora of music.

I'm becoming quite the gormet chef so if anyone is ever in the area feel free to drop by and I'll rustle up anything you fancy. As long as it's sausages. Sausages is all I got.

For you to visit my humble abode I would happily nip to Waitrose :)

I can make toast.
err, that's it.

I'll have toast with smoked salmon pate, followed by the fillet steak.
