I don't know The Fiery Furnaces at all. Can you rec me a few tracks please.

They are a brother-sister duo who play somewhat quirky stuff, but they've been on hiatus for several years as Eleanor works on her solo career. Their shows were a lot of fun, but kind of strange because they'd play a few lines from one song, then a few from another, and then maybe they'd go back to the first song. Lots of fun, though. The brother is a big fan of The Who and said that their chopped-up stage performance was sort of an homage to Townshend's "A Quick One While He's Away."

ie bonkers Laughing out loud

Wasn't sure about it at first, but liked it a lot on second listen. Am going to send it on to my brother-in-law who's a professional pianist and into modern/avant-garde classical stuff.

Second song - more straightforward and immediate and poppy, so grabbed me more first time around, but still has interesting extra layers.

Oh yeah, thanks for the snow and ice in the second video. Just what I needed. :D

Band on the Run https://youtu.be/UiFZGzYvYL0

Good enough to be one of The Beatles.

I don't think Paul has ever emulated this.

The Rolling Stones - When The Whip Comes Down (Live in Texas, 1978)

Wow!

That's good isn't it?
And from 1978 that means they had been going for SIXTEEN years then and they are still touring.Spookily Faustian.

King Crimson - Live In Chicago June 28

What a voice, what a vibe. How am I only discovering this musical genius now?

Andrew Gold - Lonely Boy

Is that Linda Ronstadt at 01:16?

Thank you for being a friend...

Probably.

It makes me think of when I was 10 and would stay up long after everyone had gone to bed to tune in to the Golden Girls on a small black and white TV in my bedroom. My bedroom door had a glass panel above it so I had to cover the TV with my duvet to stop my folks noticing I was still up :D

Clip was from the "Some Girls" Tour. I saw them 3 times on the previous "Black and Blue" tour in 1976, culminating at Knebworth.

The TV recording of their 2013 show at Hyde Park showed them still in good form. Don't think they've picked a good venue this time around though, with the London Stadium. (Anyone here been there to see a band?)

My dad keeps lecturing me about my Madonna obsession. I said, 'Papa, don't preach.' Sorry, that was disrespectful to the Spice Girls.

It was my intro to post-Beatles Paul and I assumed it was typical of the quality level. Sadly...

Yes.That's definitely his magnum opus.

"Just a little deuce coupe with a flat head mill
But she'll walk a Thunderbird like (she's) it's standin' still
She's ported and relieved and she's stroked and bored.
She'll do a hundred and forty with the top end floored
She's my little deuce coupe
You don't know what I got
(My little deuce coupe)
(You don't know what I got)

She's got a competition clutch with the four on the floor
And she purrs like a kitten till the lake pipes roar
And if that aint enough to make you flip your lid
There's one more thing, I got the pink slip daddy

And comin' off the line when the light turns green
Well she blows 'em outta the water like you never seen
I get pushed out of shape and it's hard to steer
When I get rubber in all four gears"
