Which is your favourite song? For me, it is 'Hotel California' and others like 'November Rain', 'Cuts Like a Knife', etc. So, eager to hear what's yours?
Favourite Song
American Pie. The Don McLean version of course.
I sang it one year in Tenerife in my one and only attempt at karaoke. Much to the dismay of the other four people in the bar. When I went back the next year the bar had closed down. Don't know if the two events were related.
Too difficult to narrow it down to just one but if we're going down the Karaoke route my favourites are " You've Lost That Loving Feeling" and "I saw her standing there!"
Lots of runners up but no contest for the top spot.
If someone asked me about the perfect rocksong I'd say it's the Stones' Brown Sugar. It has the best intro ever (!!!!), it has an infectious rhythm throughout, tasteful sax and an overall dirty vibe. Excellent. Perfect.
But...
...it's not the song that suddenly appears in my head "without warning" the most. There are some songs that my subconsciousness seems to prefer. I can't explain why...I always start "singing" them in my mind when I'm not actively thinking about music, they just appear as "background music" while I'm jogging or just walking around in my city alone. One has to be You Wear It Well by Rod Stewart, another one is Rocky Mountain High by John Denver.
The one that appears the most when I let my mind wander has to be Black Water by The Doobie Brothers. So I think this has to be my "favourite song".

Like it but, THIS is the best intro ever, and a brilliant song too. (And it's dirty too, if that's your bag)

Yep, this is indeed a great one. Both songs are in the same league, but Stay With Me has probably the superior singing. Those were the days, ey?

Certainly were!! Stood next to Rod (when he was Rod the Mod) at a local club when he used to come round with the Long John road show. They (John & Rod) would stand in the audience around the stage to check each other out and if they felt the urge would join each other on the stage.
The girls would almost pass out with one look from Long John and when I used to look at Rod's then bouffant hair I would think (this WAS the early 60s before one of the PC police on here get their knickers in a twist) he was of that persuasion and John the girl magnet - how wrong we all were!!

Tune your guitar to an open G, take the 6th string off and playing Brown Sugar is a synch.
