I read the news today oh boy! Page 1,957

Haven't seen anything on the news. What did she say?

Among other things, that money is being allocated for the extra facilities that will be required for a "No Deal" exit.

I wish they wouldn't keep calling it "No Deal" as that has negative connotations, what "No Deal" implies is dropping out of the EU and reverting to WTO (World Trade Organization) rules, whereby tariffs would be levied on goods from UK to EU27 and vice versa.

The EU officials are deliberately dragging their feet on the negotiations and blaming the UK for it and a lot of stupid UK media are believing them and reinforcing the "May is useless" and "its all the UK Government's fault" scenario.

What her speech implies is a strengthening of the point that unless the EU27 get their act together the UK will quit and use WTO rules. From this it follows that since EU27 exports more to UK than the UK UK exports to EU27 , the UK will collect MORE tariffs than the EU27 will, so the UK will be better off for it.

So the speech strengthens the UK negotiation position.

Personally I'm all in favour of getting out of that corrupt organization as quick as possible and reverting to WTO rules. Let the EU27 stew on that for a few years and they will probably come begging a trade agreement from the UK.

To my somewhat ill-informed eyes, it appears that the EU are more interested in punishing the UK than working out a mutually agreeable solution. Partially out of spite, and partially out of the fear that other nations will follow your lead.

Yup.

I was on neither side of the fence with regard to Brexit, but the behaviour of the EU officials since has been embarrassing. It is akin to a relationship break-up with one partner burning the others clothes and wrecking their belongings. Petulant? Tu? Oui........

Continental arrogance is the main problem, imo, a haughtiness that stems back to the Norman conquest, puffed up by centuries of Catholic supremacy from Italy to France, fostering anti protestant, anti British feeling for us being so different and independent of Europe mostly. It's like an exclusive clique of six formers in a school swaggering around scoffing at those who aren't part of it, too arrogant to see their own faults or how others see them.

Eventually, I sense there could be a northern Europe breakaway from the EU, or a forming of a separate north European EU. Germans and Scandinavians I've known get us and like us a lot more than the smarmy, financially incompetent southern continentals, especially the haughty, hypocritical French with their strong EU principles and non negotiable demands while half their own workdays are lost to strikes. Once again Britain stands alone in standing up to them. :)EnglandScotlandWales

Every Hugh Hefner comment was, 'He's what every man wants to be...' Tell that to Mahatma Gandhi. Actually just shut the f**k up and stop insulting my intelligence, f**kpig.

Here's an excellent 2015 Michael Moore documentary

Michael Moore is a genius. He singlehandedly introduced me to the idea that - wait for it - America is corrupt!!!!!!! Boy, was I shocked and sceptical, but over 556760865076470 hours' documentary footage he presents his case rather convincingly, and now I just don't what to think. You have deflated a myth, Michael.

Have you watched the film?

No.

It's not about US corruption per se: it's about visits he makes to other countries and what he finds there: Italy, Norway, Tunisia, Finland, to name but 4. It's good.

Ah, Tunisia, hotbed of terrorism, leading breeding ground of ISIS fighters, and a nation where homosexuality is punishable by a prison sentence. It's a veritable paradise, compared to the United States.

I think terrorists is bad. If I am Prime Minister, I stop it.
Scientists are developing a way to grow food in outer space. Ain't that awesome? F**k Africa, let's send it all to Mars.
In the wake of Hefner's death, I'm gonna open my big mouth once and for all and then forever hold my peace (no pun intended).
The saddest moment of my life (after when Geri left the Spice Girls) was reading, 'Hefner is what every man wants to be'. Well tell that to Gandhi, Stephen Hawking and Leonardo da Vinci.
Hefner? A man who has to pay for sex. A man who has 6 billion women who'll f**k him but not a single one who'll make love to him. Who publicly lives a lie that we all know doesn't exist, because reality's too much for him... A guy who's (fairly or unfairly) hated by millions of downtrodden women cos they ain't got the look or the tits or the zero integrity - whose work is (rightly or wrongly) considered a contributory factor to misogyny, brutality, even rape - who can't even get porn right but has to 'justify' it with some pretentious BS written by someone else.
I've been called prudish, anti-pornography and (my personal favourite) 'just jealous'. Balls. I know there'll always be the mediocrity and vulgarity, the men who are all bluster and no substance, the women who have no respect for themselves, let alone their fellow femalefolk. But what a sad world it'd be if that really was 'what every man wants'. The Hefners can flaunt their dubiously-earned dollars, bonk their busty bunnies, even be called 'success stories' if your parameters are spunk and money. But don't ever call them heroes, ideals or aspirations.
I have a lovely wife, decent house and job that covers my needs without stressing me out. That makes me a boring little wanker? I should be fantasising about drooping my flaccid cock between the silicon bust of a useless whore who hates me and then buying her a castle? Good times!

In that Michael Moore film I cited, he visits the Ducati motorbike factory in Bologna and meets the laid-back workforce and owners (brother and two sisters). They implement a salary cap, give employees a share of the profits, 7 weeks paid holiday per year plus paid national holidays, paid maternity leave and 2 hour lunch breaks, all in a basic 35 hours per week. The result of all this? Happy workers, happy owners and increased productivity. This may not be an eye-opener for you Michael, living as you do in Italy, but it was certainly an eye-opener for me. All the best.

Not sure what point you're making. I was talking about Hef.

I know.

I wasn't trying to make any point - was just trying to make conversation. No worries.

Yes, I expect it's huge.

He's just the tip of the iceberg. A former Playboy Playmate has just come out and said that Oliver Stone grabbed her breast at a party. Elijah Wood and Corey Feldman have said that there's a powerful group of pedophiles who prey on young actors and actresses. I imagine that a lot of rich and famous people in Hollywood are quaking in their boots today. Hopefully they'll all be unmasked in our own Operation Yewtree.

It's deliciously ironic that the same celebrities (male and female) who were outraged by the president's "grab 'em by the pussy" statement covered up Weinstein's abuses for decades. After years of lecturing the American public on feminism and equality and politics and the evils of capitalism, they've been revealed as the hypocritical abusers of men, women, children and power that they are. I hope it all comes crashing down around their ears like Hillary's campaign.

Did you see Weinstein's original statement that he issued when it became clear that the article detailing his abuses would run in the newspapers? In an effort to maintain sympathy from his lefty supporters, he summoned the liberal holy trinity of evil: guns, the NRA, and Donald Trump:

"I am going to need a place to channel that anger so I've decided that I'm going to give the NRA my full attention. I hope (NRA CEO) Wayne LaPierre will enjoy his retirement party. I'm making a movie about our President, perhaps we can make it a joint retirement party."

Your anger, Harvey? The only thing you're angry about is that those women wouldn't keep quiet and you got caught.
